and we chased them through cambridge here into watertown. got about five minutes away from m.i.t., there were probably at one point 60 cars in a row using up every lane flying. we stopped and pulled over to the sidewalk to let them by and started to shoot video. at that point, we heard a couple of pops, in the distance, three or four witnesses around us. at that point, we said those are gun shots, let's go. once the police and unmarked vehicles went by, we follow them here to mt. auburn, i think we were the second crew on the scene. it was still very hectic. police cars still showing up, they were turning around and so they would drive down the road and u-turn and come down another road. they were trying to circle this area. and that was really what we saw here. and within about 15, 20 minutes, witnesses starting to tell us stories as they were getting evacuated from the streets. >> what i think coming in here, may be a crime scene vehicle which, again, would be another sign of bringing in forensic experts. boston police special operations c

that is cambridge. i believe it's been cordoned off a couple of blocks from the home, the apartment, where these two brothers lived together presumably with their mother. we don't know a lot about where their mouther is. we know the father lives in russia. he was spoken to earlier today by media and call the eboys angels, one of them in particular, said he was studying to be a doctor, in his second year of medical school. we have information the older disead deceased brother was attending a community college, studying engineering. regards to the atf's role right now, once you get past looking for these bombs, you look at these six months from january to july of last year that tamerlan spent overseas. does this time frame make sense to you? would it take perhaps nine months on the heels of returning to the united states to be able to pull off something like this? do you see the actions of these guys beginning with the bombing of the boston marathon on monday? is this the work of nine months of planning?

in cambridge, massachusetts, last night. that's again local time in which two suspects we can now say are the same two suspects in the boston marathon bombing on monday were involved in an incident that involved an armed robbery, a car jacking, the death of an m.i.t. campus official. m.i.t. is now shut for classes today. after this incident, the entire scene moved to watertown, massachusetts, nearby where there was a series of events there which authorities were trying to describe this morning involving gunshots, involving explosive devices and telling nbc that there still remains unsfloeded devices in the area. two suspects, the one you're looking at there in the white hat known as suspect number two is still at large. suspect number one is dead and is we just heard from doctors says the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and also blast wounds. more than gunshot wounds is how they described it, an explosive device, possibly shrapnel was involved in the death of what you're looking at known as suspect number one from
