i have lived in camden my entire life.want my kids to be able to return there and be successful once they get out of high school and go through college. i brought the son of a schoolteacher and his son of a small businessman who worked in higher education. i am passionate about higher education. i have enjoyed the debates with these gentlemen. i have known the senator robert ford and i have known dr. rex for a number of years. i believe this is the way the public discussion should be conducted. i believe this is the way a public debate should occur and i am proud of what we have done regardless of the outcome of this election, i have worked hard to become south carolina's next governor. for a democrat to win, you have to work harder it regardless of the outcome, i will continue to work with these two gentlemen and work to better south carolina along with the folks in this audience and many of you watching on television. it has been an honor and privilege. thank you for having me. host: camden, you are on the air. caller: good morning. my first question is about the statistics about the unemployment. you said that it was more whites. i know where i live the statistics we are hearing is about the statistics about african-american males being out of work. my second question is, what is the resistance to instituting like government programs like we had back during the 1930's like the w.p.a. and those types of programs to help build the infrastructure and those types of things. those are my questions. thank you. guest: well, i do think that it is not just that whites are experiencing unemployment. there are definitely -- it is definitely across the board and it is not just hitting one group, it is hitting everyone. blocks, hispanics, asians have been hit. in terms of a public works program, i think that you would find some support for that by both economists and policy makers. but the difficult thing is that politically it is a hard thing to pass especially in a time when people are growing more concerned about the defi

host: camden, new jersey, republican moder -- republican line. caller: for me, immigration and lawlessness along the border or the priority for me. we have been invaded by terrorists, i don't care whether mexican or not. we have to take control of our country again. my understanding is that there are parts of arizona where the government is telling americans not to go because it is too dangerous. we have to do something about this now. what of the boy to do, just laid what are we going to do, just laid down and let these people destroy the country? you have to do something now. you cannot just talk about it and allow this to happen. and you cannot grant amnesty to everybody that wants to come across that border. host: ok. guest: there is no question about it. the most comprehensive solution is immigration reform, and that is something that president obama has pledged to move for when possible. the reality is is along the border, the u.s. government has greatly increased its presence. border patrol, for example, is almost twice what it was for fiv
