kron four's camila barco is live and the newsroom with more. good morning, camila.ing, guys. yeah, the board of directors at uc hastings, college of the law have decided to remove the word hastings from its name. instead, they have chosen to rename it uc college of the law, san francisco. and this comes after a committee investigated the history of the school's founder. sara, is clinton hasting. they found that hasting played a role in the mass killings of native americans mendocino county in the 18 50's. now the process to rename the school has been extensive. the committee has hosted several meetings that received input from dozens of people from the hundreds of e-mails and letters that they received. 78% of those people supported removing hastings from the college's name and the round valley indian tribal council also supported the name change. and aside from the new name, the school is also working on restorative justice justice measures and maintaining a relationship with the tribes affected by this board. members even recommended renaming the library at the sc

back to the oak fire burning out of control in california, cnn's camila bernal is near the wildfire in mariposa county. what is the situation right now? >> reporter: hey, pam, we've been here all day watching as plane after plane has dropped fire retardant trying to stop these flames behind me. i spoke to a firefighter minutes ago who told me, i don't think they've made a lot of progress. this fire has been particularly difficult for these firefighters for a number of reasons. first, they say, the drought and the weather. they say this time, the afternoon, is really the worst time for them because the temperatures are up, the humidity is low, and the winds start to pick up. then they say the terrain is also difficult. it's very steep, so it's hard to get to some of the areas where the fire is. and finally, they say it's hard to get to the homes in this area because people live in big lots, say, five acres, and it's surrounded by a forest. so a lot of it is overgrown and dry. they say they have a difficult time getting into those homes. there were more evacuation orders issued today. th

cnn's camila bernal has more. >> reporter: officials here in l.a.t they've seen an 88% increase in hospitalizations compared to last month. they're also saying that they're seeing 10.5 hospitalizations for about 100,000 people. so if those numbers stay the same or increase what will happen is that in two weeks, everyone will be wearing a mask when they are indoors. it is possible that these numbers go down, but even officials here in the county say that's unlikely. l.a. is hosting the mlb all-star game this week. there are many who are traveling in to los angeles. and in general, people are out sharing a meal or a drink, and they're not used to having that mask anymore. and so that is the new reality. it's going to be difficult to implement a mask mandate again. i talked to someone who told me that she always wears a mask when she goes to the supermarket or when she feels unfortunately, but doesn't want it to be mandated. here's what she told me. >> i'm not going to say that i don't agree because i know that it's for a reason. am i happy about it? n
