cnn's camila bernal is in los angeles. camila, what do we know so far? >> reporter: hey, fred.king multimillion-dollar homes, and this family decides they want to do a landscaping project. they call a crew, and as they're working they find this car. of course they immediately called authorities. you have investigators that go out there, and they bring cadaver dogs and the dogs start smelling around according to authorities into the convertible that has been about six feet under ground. as the dogs were sniffing around, they smelled thing. here is how police is describing what those dogs alerted. >> i've done a few questions with some canine officers. >> a few questions with some different canine officers and they of said it could be human remains, they could be reacting to blood, they could be reacting to old bones, they could be reacting to human vomit. it could be any one of those combinations of things that the dogs are reacting to. >> reporter: they are still working on all of this, but as of now, authorities say they have not found human remains. they do say, look, there i

thank you so much, camila bernal. the investigation, you know, of course is under way.let's speak to the official in charge of all of this. joining us now is chief of police joe prentice. good to see you, chief. so, first off, can you confirm that these four bodies are that of these bikers who were missing? >> i cannot. i'm currently waiting for official identification from the medical examiner's office. >> okay. is the medical examiner's office able to convey to you the condition of the bodies? >> i can tell you that all four bodies were submerged in water for what appears to be an extended period of time, and therefore identification will be a little bit of a challenge, and the medical examiner is using scientific methods to make those identifications. and they will do them on a case-by-case basis. >> are you able to go as far as submerged, are we talking about drowning victims, or does it appear there was any other trauma on the bodies before being submerged? >> cause and manner of death will have to come from the medical examiner's office. they were submerged. i can
