and we have camila bernal in los angeles with the latest. >> john, it is something that every writer i have talked about is excited about to see a tentative deal. one of the writer said i am ready to go back to making magic and telling stories, but the union says that you have to wait, you cannot go back to work. they are working through the fine print and dotting every i. so they are working through legal part of the contract and after that is done, we expect a vote happening as early as tomorrow, and that is a leadership vote. after the leadership vote, then some of the details will be made public to us, and the writers and they will ask questions to see whether they like the deal or not, and then they will have to vote to ratify the deal. after it is ratified, if that is the case, you will likely to see the people beginning to work, and likely to start to see the daytime television, and the talk shows and the late night shows back on the air. but the question is what happens to the rest of the tv this year and really movies next summer? actors have to come to an agreement with the

cnn's camila bernal joins us from palmdale. and the conditions of his arrest? >> reporter: well, look, the sheriff robert luna describing it as a peaceful arrest. he said after 36 hours he is confident that they have the right person. he says he doesn't believe there are any other suspects in this case. he said, he's proud of the men and women of this department who put the person, or is putting the person behind bars who killed deputy clinkunbroomer. what the sheriff said here, thanks to a community member who called and identified the car that he was driving, that kay toyota corolla, and also identify the suspect. as you mentioned they served the search warrant. he barricaded himself for several hours. and the sheriff here saying that they essentially waited for hours and brought in hostage negotiators and eventually had to use chemical agents, that's when that suspect surrendered. again, he called it peaceful. i want you to listen to how the sheriff described it. >> those special enforcement deputies took the time to try to d

cnn's camila bernal is in los angeles for us.an you give us some sense of the deal that has been made tentatively between the writers and the studios? >> reporter: well, they have not released any details, sara, so everybody is just sort of holding their breath waiting to see the exact details what these two sides agreed on but i talked to a lot of the writers and they were telling me, look, they knew our demands, they knew what we wanted in terms of wages, streaming and residuals and also in terms of artificial intelligence. a lot of writers i talked to told me we're confident in those wga negotiators. sources did tell cnn that that last sticking point was artificial intelligence. it's not easy to deal with something that we don't really know, we don't understand a lot of it and don't know what's going to be developed in the future. so that took some time and a lot of the writers have also told me, look, we're ready to go back to work but the union is telling them not yet. they are being told, look, we have to work through some

cnn's camila bernal joining me from los angeles. camila, how hopeful are people? >> reporter: people are really on pins and needles. they're very hopeful but also very cautious because they know at the moment there is no deal. this is day five of these marathon sessions, but they're waiting to see exactly what is going to come out of all of these negotiations. a lot of people want to return to work. they want to see a deal happening, possibly today. that is a very likely possibility because we had heard that by the end of the weekend, was essentially a doable timeline. we're waiting to see exactly what happens. these are very complicated issues. the writers wanting higher wages when it comes to residuals and streaming. they were also very focused on artificial intelligence. that's complicated part of the negotiations. real lit's just a waiting game now because what we've seen over the last couple days, this has been a strike that has really paralyzed los angeles, the industry, and it's been sort of a domino effect in terms of the economic impact. estimates are $5

cnn's camila bernal joining us from los angeles.re hoping for some resolution to this, maybe this weekend. what's the latest? >> reporter: we're waiting, jim. really it's a waiting game. what we need is to hear from the writers guild. on the side of the studios, according to sources, they have made a final and best deal. so what that means, we don't really know. we haven't seen what they negotiated, what they came to an agreement on, if they came to an agreement on this. we're just simply waiting for the wga to tell us whether or not this is, in fact, the case. in the meantime, a lot of the writers that we talked to say they're still very cautiously optimistic. they want to be hearing from the guild, not necessarily from the studios. this weekend we know that they met for negotiations again, but the big bosses from the four major studios were not at the table. sources telling oliver darcy that they were involved in the process but not in the room. again, we're just simply having to wait and see what happens. a lot of the writers say
