fire at an apartment complex in campbell where a body has been found. ktvu channel 2 reporter janine de la vega is there at the scene. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, brian. we are here on kenis drive where you can see there are police and fire investigators here on the scene where a fire broke out in a storage unit under a carport. right now sergeant gary burg joins me to tell me exactly what happened here. >> a little after 1:00 this morning we received a call from a fire coming from the detached parking structure. when officers and firefighters arrived they found a fire that was burning and after extinguishing that fire a deceased body was found inside. >> what appears to have happened? are you calling this suspicious? >> we're woking a-- we're working alongside the county arson investigators to determine a cause. >> reporter: were there a lot of people on the scene? did anybody see anybody running away? >> there were neighbors on scene who were the ones that actually called us. there is -- we are still following up on things. nothing too ou

i'm in campbell. the storage unit was on fire and is around the corner from the building here behind me. here's a closer look at that unit. the fire broke out at 1:00 this morning. somebody reported smoke coming from the storage unit. they found a body inside the unit after they put out the small fire. they say the body is an adult. police won't say how the person died, if it was before or during the fire. they are calling it an undetermined death investigation not a murder investigation. >> at this point we don't have specific evidence to call it a homicide. obviously, we're looking at all the different possibilities and once we get all the questions answered we'll be able to better determine what happened here this morning. >> reporter: the storm unit was small, 6 by 4 feet, the storage unit. it's detached from the apartment building part of a carport in the driveway. there was minimal damage done to the storage unit. arson investigators are expected back here this morning. we are waiting to find ou
