i think we've lost susan candiotti. we'll try to get her back. we did get an all clear from the nypd. the police department has said this is not the threat they feared it may be. they've given the all clear, which means no doubt they will open traffic there, for a lot of people that have been stuck, the bridge will reopen very shortly. and they will be towing that vehicle away very shortly, and hopefully as the night goes on, we'll get the true story of everything that happened with that vehicle. the good part of the story is, however, that this does not appear to be a terrorist threat or a bomb of any sort, which, of course, many of us feared as we looked at this this evening. that's the latest from new york tonight. a lot of things developing, but we will keep an eye on it throughout the night. you can count on that. the bridge has been reopened or will be reopened shortly, and police say that the situation is under control, and this vehicle will be towed away, not a terrorist threat. just a very exciting evening in new york city as they dealt

and we're following all the developments here with susan candiotti, drew griffin. everybody is on the story. of course, we'll bring you the latest information as we get it here on cnn. a lot of talk has been made about also the surveillance video and, drew, do you just want to talk about the significance of this surveillance tapes? and also whether authorities ever got their hand on the tape that that pennsylvania tourist had in his hands? >> reporter: actually, we do have some reports. they withheld that tourist video from pennsylvania. they were going to release that. they withheld that. it may not have been the suspect. that is something that we are trying to chase down. of greater value is the vehicle in all this and the videotape of that vehicle, and in particular, the license plate and the registration on that vehicle which led them to connecticut. it's unclear of the significance of that tape that was released showing a man looking back at the vehicle. we just do not know at this time to say if that is the suspect. what we do know is the suspect -- a suspect

our susan candiotti is on the scene now and joins us live. what can you tell us?s whole thing started. the explanation we're getting from the new york city police official is that they tracked down the owner of the car by tracing the license tag. and the owner of the car explained the two gas cans in the back of the car because he was mowing some lawns. he's not a professional landscaper. he says that's why he has the gas cans in the back of the vehicle. to recap here, this was -- a four door olds mobile '91 model that had an american flagsticker on the back. an employee ofcon-edison, they saw the gas cans in the back. the car is parked in front of the kolg hutch con-ed building. they flew the windows out of the car. then following that a bomb squad team wearing protective clothing carefully approached the vehicle and now we're seeing the gas cans are outside in the middle of the street while they examined it while investigators went to work. but now as you heard, a police official tells us that they hope to be wrapping this up very soon, the scene very soon. in t
