. >> senator cantwell. >> thank you for the statement. there are two issues i would like to discuss and those are safety and price. i don't know if they will be discussed today. i am not saying you cannot have oil transported safely but we had a huge fire and a report is being released about the death and what happened from that. and we have had incidences of oil now if you think of the north dakota and the export opportunities on rail and what are the safety issues. that is an important issues to me. and secondly the issue of price. i believe it is global market and global price. i definitely think we could do more to police the markets to make sure manipulation isn't effected. that is more about the banking figures and how many people have their fingers in the oil pot when they are not taking the end user. the price issue in the pacific northwest given the world market and being isolated, we have had some of the highest gas prices in the nation. when the congressional research gave an estimate on exports, it is saying that consumers cou

i appreciate what senator cantwell said and she made some good points. we also hear that in effect what happens at the pump in ohio and around the country is effected by the global marketplace. predominately, and we see that. when there's an issue overseas where there is no disruption of supply but the potential for, we see the prices go up. i would like to hear more about that, understanding how this differs from natural gas in terms of the market, and ultimately what it would mean for our consumers. finally, since senator manchin talked about the sweet spot, i would love you a little more about what could be done in terms of maybe a swap specific with mexico that's been suggested by some folks where we would be exporting light, sweet crude in exchange for heavy crude, and whether that makes sense. it may not be a wholesale lifting of the export ban at this point but it might be some opportunities for us to enhance our competitiveness in this country and be sure we have the right balance of energy resources in the context of again this revolution that h

. >> i'd like to echo senator cantwell, even though she's not the room, earlier statements. i think everybody's getting a little too over focused on the drone technology. in terms of the unmanned system, i think this room will be gathered again in a similar fashion very soon over the car technologies. unmanned cars are going to have cameras inside the car filming the car filming you, all of this will be potentially hackable to anybody external to the car. we talk about unmanned vehicle techs enologies, it's air but grounded technologies as well. so i think a lot of those same apply toe going to both domains. >> i appreciate -- i know my time is up. to me obviously this is an area we need to weigh in on and make sure that we have some clear rules here because of all are at stake,that both within the constitution and also safety issues, etc. it's really challenging. because if we're looking at a crop sprayer, we may have environmental issues. if we're looking at an issue of really surveillance technology, then we have other issues, maybe perhaps fourth amendment, other issues.
