a sheriff's deputy found william sims lying dead in the street near the capri club in el sobrante. the sheriff's office says sims had been robbed and beaten at the club. they believe he was targeted because of his race. police charged daniel porter- kelly with the murder and robbery of sims. officials are still looking for two others, ray simons and daniel ortega in connection with the crime. a civil rights group is asking for more police protection after hate letters targeted three mosques. according to the los angeles times, islamic centers in long beach and claremont have also received the same hate letter sent to the evergreen islamic center in san jose. the letter calls muslims "the children of satan" and says trump will cleanse america starting with "you muslims." the council on american-islamic relations is calling for increased cooperation with law enforcement agencies to protect mosques. a san jose police spokesman says the department has opened an investigation and is treating it as a "hate-motivated incident." on the peninsula. a south san francisco police officer remain
