morning while many of us are sleeping tomorrow, the sun's rays will be directly over the tropic of capricorn solstice begins and that will usher the first day of winter. it's looking bright and beautiful, a little bit cooler tomorrow by a couple of degrees that be we were today. we'll hit about 58 the city. 59 in concord. with this kind of quiet weather pattern and high pressure still in control, it is trapping some pollutants again near the surface. we do have a spare the air day in effect for monday. so poor air quality in the north bay, the inland east bay, the santa clara valleys. you will notice that haze in the atmosphere. but relief will be coming later this week as we welcome back a return of some rainfall. but tomorrow night the night sky is going to give us a great view of saturn and jupiter. these two planets, they do play a dance every 20 years in what's called the great conjunction. but what is very different this year is that saturday and jupiter will be the closest together they have been in nearly 800 years. it's going to be really cool. it's nicknamed the christmas star this

the sun is angled over the tropic of capricorn, and that means that the southern hemisphere is in southern time as we go into winter, and the sunset is going to happen at 4:54 this evening, and short day, but it is a longer time to view the great conjunction. it is something that you have been seeing online, and people have been talking about it, and taking pictures of the sky. well, it is going to appear as saturn and jupiter are close together, and millions of miles apart, but it is going to appear close in the sky, because of the angle we are seeing them. this is called the christmas star, because some astronomers are believing that for the first christmas this is how the planets were align and looking at the bright star over bethlehem, and so as you are going into the evening, you will want to look to the southwest and see the two planets close together and you can see it without a telescope if the skies are clear, and for some of us, we have had to deal with the dense fog, and the weather is going to be staying dry, and into christmas day, and into saturday we will have a widespread l
