timothy dolan cardinal said he thinks the president can benefit greatly by listening to the pope because he says the holy see is one of the best listening pul t pulpits. do you agree with that? >> absolutely. you look at the impact the pope has had over his first year, the issue of poverty and also the issue of immigration. his first trip outside of rome was this little italian island where immigrants from north africa come over. the big issue with him, i can bet it was a big issue in their discussion. >> chuck, just to finish it up, the pope enormously popular, some 80% of catholics say they favor -- they're in favor of him. 60% say that he has renewed their faith and support for the church. is there something just rubbing elbows with the pope for president obama? >> reporter: let's remember one in four americans are catholics. and so yes, i think that the president, particularly right now, where his own approval ratings are not so hot, just being seen with the pope, particularly in some places where there are a lot of catholic voters in the united states, it's not going to hurt. so yes
