julie carey joins us from the scene where neighbors are expressing concern. julie? >> reporter: some of the neighbors who live in that apartment complex tell me they are afraid tonight, whoever fired those fatal shots could be coming back. now, police are working hard to identify a suspect and also tell me they believe the victim tesean dorsey, was not the intended target. two tiny bullet homeles the only sign of violence early saturday morning. on the other side of that apartment wall, tesean dorsey had celebrated his 25th birthday with friends. went to sleep and never woke up. one of the builts struck him in the head. this neighbor called 911 when she heard the shots around 4:20 a.m. >> it was so loud to the point that i hit the floor and it scared me that bad. my husband was sleeping it woke him up. >> reporter: when police arrived, they spotted the bullet holes and talked to the couple who rents apartment 302. the couple assured the officers everything was fine. but a few hours later, neighbors called police back after they found a shell casing on this stairway.

. >> reporter: i'm julie carey in arlington where police are revealing much more about how and why a man was shot and killed by one of their officers two weeks ago. what that man >>> cell phone video captured a frantic scene at frederick douglass high school when a student was stabbed. tonight one person facing charges in that attack. some classmates say they're concerned about their safety. tracee wilkins has our report. >> hopefully it won't affect going back to school tomorrow. >> reporter: some came to pick up their kids from school after word of a fight turned stabbing spread to parents. >> she is a little spreek of freekd out about the whole incident. nothing like this has ever happened before so for her to experience something like this is kind of traumatic for her. >> reporter: this video shows just how quickly a fight between two students escalated into one student being stabbed. >> i can can't imagine being in that situation. >> reporter: it happened early this morning inside frederick douglass high school in upper marlborough just after school began. >> like on the stairwe

>> reporter: jim as we stepped out here, bureau chief julie carey stayed inside the courtroom. that testimony just wrapping up from the victim. she was on the stand for about an hour. at times she struggled describing that attack from ten years ago. she is normally a very stoic and quiet person and teared up as she described in telling the court her attacker sat on her legs and banged her head on the ground. that's when she said he sexually assault herd with his hand. inside the fairfax county courthouse no cameras allowed but in the jury box now sits 14 residents of the county. two of them, alternates. they will be the ones to determine jesse matthews' fate. matthews charged in a 2005 sexual assault. prosecutors say he attacked a woman in the city of fairfax allegedly assaulting her here not far from a middle school and giant grocery store. he is aaccused of trying to kill the woman, too. it wasn't until hannah graham's abduction and death in charlottesville did matthews emerge as a suspect in the fairfax case. investigators say dna linked him. in court today a judge and attor

my colleague, julie carey is in there listening in. i want to show you a few of the quotes and listen in. "i was screaming, yelling and i was dropped on the curb" referring to her 2005 assault here in the city of fairfax. she says, "he sat on my legs. he banged my head on the ground." she said "i was just screaming and he hit me again. he then choked me with one hand and i became unconscious." the victim says after that, the suspect in this case, who has been, according to prosecutors, said to be jesse matthew, then assaulted her sexually with his hand. now, this victim is on the stand right now right now, she is continuing to testify. jurors were picked this morning, they were chosen, dozens came into the courtroom. they had to determine whether or not there were any biases because of how high profile this case was worried about media attention tainting the jury pool. they had to weed out several jurors, finally got down to 14 seven men seven women, two of those will be alternates. at this point though they are sitting through that te

i know the virginia bureau chief julie carey says the second pool emergency prompts some safety experts to warn parents. >> reporter: with school still in session, the pirate's cove water park is closed on weekdays but sunday, it was very busy. around five hectic moments as lightning forced lifeguards to clear the pool. that's when a pay the trop spotted a 2-year-old boy at the bottom of this center section in water three to four feet deep. lifeguards started cpr. the nearby marine patrol took over and fire and rescue. a pool official says there were indications of a pulse and heart beat when the toddler was rushed to a nova fairfax hospital. the executive director of the northern virginia water parks tells me they were fully staffed here yesterday with 15 lifeguards on duty. he says they did everything they were supposed to do during the emergency. the child's parents were at the pool. still unknown how the boy slipped to the pool's bottom. it is the second pool emergency in just weeks in northern virginia. in late may, a 7-year-old girl who could not yet swim drowned in a lorton commu
