we're still going our way back towards the caribbean.have ourselves a look at tropical storm karl. looks very impressive. karl itself, now back over the water from the bay of campeche. winds up to 50 miles per hour. the forecast track for karl and expectation now, it strengthens back to a hurricane when it makes landfall on the mainland of mexico. early part of saturday morning. this is similar to what happened with the early season storm alex crossing campeche and actually hit a little further north. problems here across the central and northern uh, caribbean coast or bay, gulf of mexico coastline that is. of mexico. other-wise, we're watching closer to home. we have 64 degrees this morning. we have ourselves a mostly cloudy sky. that kept our temperatures from slipping into the 50s again, little more mild this morning. we'll have less sunshine to deal with. clouds abundant. showers back in ohio. more showers back beyond that and the complex system spreading in our direction will ignite more showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon.

in the caribbean we have a new tropical depression that has joined us showing signs of strengtheningnd organizing. it will likely become a tropical storm system within the next 24 hours so we are keeping close eye on this storm system. already, though, bringing pretty hefty showers across the region looking at warnings in effect across places like cuba, the bahamas, even for the florida peninsula already. could turn a lot stormier the next couple days so that is something to watch out for. also for central america, two showers continuing to pound the area. we are hearing of major landslides across the region. so not good newssaturated areas. 30 degrees in miami. looking at a lot of 20s across the east. still hot for l.a. at 32 and up to 30 degrees in denver as well during the day time. finally, a look at europe here. continental europe is still looking at the persistent system here in the east. it hasn't moved a whole lot the past couple days but is showing signs of weakening finally so showers still lingering for eastern portions of europe in towards western russia but that does tap

a new tropical depression that formed in the can ab-- caribbean and that is going to pull the leftover moisture from tropical storm matthew and bring big rains to the area on thursday and that will get going about this time from south to north and there is going to be heavy rain with that and once it's out of here, a cooler and drier weekend and the coolest air with temperatures in the 60s and the storm is pulling away to the north and the heavy rain continuing funneling along the del marva earlier and the next batch is going to get its act together here. i want to mention wilmington north carolina, had 10 inches of rain yesterday and the second greatest rain total ever and that was not tropical. we have what we think is going to be more of a tropical depression getting going down here and while you don't see much in terms of the radar, that is because we don't have the systems down there and the caribbean is loaded with moisture and this is our tropical depression that could be tropical storm nicole in the next 48 hours and doesn't look like it's going to be powerful, but bringing hea

we have tropical storm nicole down in the caribbean adding moisture to this. it's a tropical hose taking a ton of moisture a throwing it up the eastern seaboard this morning. that's where all the travel trouble is. florida is now clearing out. the carolinas will be next. we have eastern carola getting naid. virginia, delaware, pennsylvania, new jersey and soon up into areas of new england. take a closer look at the radar. you can see the moisture coming straight from the south. a little swirl here, maybe our area of low pressure crossing down from south carolina to north carolina, getting drenched from raleigh. wimington has had an incredible amount of rain the last few days, maybe the highest total ever. the moderates, the steady rainfall now over the area and that's extending now just into the philadelphia region. new york city, the rain is still probably another hour or two away. and you notice that new york is probably more scattered during the day today. i think new york city will get the heaviest rain later on tonight. here is the total we're thinking. a
