caribou is up to 15 which sounds cold. a lot warmer than it has been. when you look at the rest of the country, 20s, 30s. dallas is 39. in the 50s along the gulf coast. even into great falls, montana where the jet stream is coming well to the north. it hits the pacific northwest bringing in the moisture. they've got rain along the coast even into northern california. actually gets up into parts of southern canada before taking that dip in the east which has given us the cold air. there is still a lit bit of cold air left in new england. 15 in caribou will be leaving as the mild air moves in. a chilly start today. we get toward the noon hour. we'll be into the 40s. mid-40s for highs today. tonight, we're back in the 20s and 30s. tomorrow, even milder as temperatures during the day on friday, i think they'll be in the mid-50s for highs tomorrow and back into the 50s on saturday. you might see a couple of sprinkles or flurries in the mountains here as we get into saturday morning but our next storm system probably not until next wednesday at the earliest.

it is 10 above right now in caribou, maine. these temperatures are pretty amazing. we want to show you the reason for it. the cold air is widespread across canada. alaska is having on the coldest winters they have had in a long time but the upper level winds are not delivering the cold air south. we have a little piece of energy we are watching, a low pressure system. that will swing through late tomorrow so we will get a cold front, but temperatures will only drop a little bit behind that. there is no rain to come this way, so it will be a very nice weekend. upper level winds will keep the calder track to the north. we have above -- cold air trapped to the north. we have above-average temperatures through sunday. there will have to be a wide scale pattern change in the upper level winds across north america that allow the jet stream to dip far enough south to get the cold air here. sometimes this time of year, the jet stream pushes all the way down to the gulf of mexico. right now, it is along the u.s.- canadian border. we just do not see a sign of many major arcti
