to the weather channel's carl parker to check out what's going on. carl. >>> and good morning to you, chris. we are now watching hurricane rina, a category 2 hurricane in the western part of the caribbean. looks like it will continue off to the west/northwest very slowly. models having a difficult time resolving the longer term. we think it could be a direct threat to southeastern -- northeastern parts of the yucatan peninsula. it may come up to florida, though probably in a weakened state. a lot to figure out in that forecast. very quiet day across much of the country, as you can see. we're watching some showers and storms around the lakes and not much happening in the central plains right now but over the next couple of days major snowstorms on the way rockies in denver. in the east today a beautiful day, a lot of sunshine, 60 in boston. 70 in savannah. the northern plains and there's your big snowstorm, major change there for the central part of the rockies. also very nice along the west coast. 64 degrees, chris, in san diego. >> those folks in the

i'm carl parker. we're watching a quiet day right now. that's going to change.rain here across the tennessee valley and down into florida as well. that's the developing storm. wet weather in some areas that need it across the south. a little bit of stormy weather in florida. that will increase in the carolinas tonight. then the storm moves up the coast. snow develops in interior parts of the northeast and then late saturday the storm is going to bomb out, which is to say it's going to get a lot more intense. a lot of wind, very heavy snow through interior parts of the northeast. it's a tricky call for the 95 corridor. a few inches in boston, new york city, 5 to 8 in hartford. 3 to 5 in philly. 6 to 12, farther west, allentown bo poughkeepsie and the litchfield hills. with a lot of leaves on trees and heavy wet snow and wind 30 to 40 miles per hour, that could be enough to cause widespread power outages. that's a big worry going into this weeken. in the meantime, very quiet for the country. looks beautiful in los angeles. p 7 today. rina is just about no more. ch

let's go to the weather channel's carl parker. this is a trick-or-treat for some, right? >> this is shaping up to be a serious storm. i nia long the 95 corridor. it's not going to be as much. farther west it will be. the developing storm is now across parts of the southeast. we have heavier rain into tennessee and florida right now. we'll see more of that going through the afternoon and then the storm will lift up and move into the carolinas tonight. it's going to be getting stronger as it moves up the coast and then heading into saturday morning, we'll find snow developing here across the interior part of the northeast. by saturday night, the storm is going to bomb out. which is to say it's going to get more intense. heavy wet snow coming down here. generally west of 95. you see the snow/rain line along 95. that's why it's a difficult call forecastwise. this is what we're thinking. probably about 6 to 12 inches. maybe more. again, to the west of 95. we're talking about lancaster to allentown getting up into poughkeepsie and into worseter. couple of inches in new york and

i'm weather channel meteorologist carl parker. we've got our eyes on a couple weather systems this morning. one of them in the middle of the country actually brought some severe weather to dallas last night. about 4,000 people without power there. another system now in the northeast bringing some rain into the area. we don't think it's going to be really heavy. for the most part, not enough to cause flooding. this is lighter rain from new york back through much of pennsylvania. there is a heavier batch now coming into the d.c. area. it's not quite enough to cause flooding. so good news there. there's the forecast for today. 62 in new york. 75 in raleigh. beautiful through a lot of the southeast. clouds finally beginning to move out. some chance of severe weather in the midsouth. much cooler across the northern plains. only 69 in the twin cities. and in the west lovely weather those it's getting a lot hotter. 98 degrees in phoenix. that's above average and 75 in san francisco. also, watching jova moving into mexico. still a hurrica

carl parker standing by, as he always is in the morning, from the weather channel. t for us? >> well, the snow has been coming down in colorado. we're going to get a good bit of it. in fact, in denver, we've had 4 inches, but north and west of town in jamestown, in boulder county in the foothills, we've had 16 inches of snow already. and we are looking for more snow to continue through the day today, so it's going to be well over a foot when you get into the mountains. there's a look at 70 this, and there's the snow coming down. it will continue through the rest of today. so more issues up and down 25 here, and certainly so on 70 west of town. talking about an additional 4 to 6 inches in denver and about 5 to 8 in breckenridge. great news for those of you who are looking to get up into the mountains to ski early this season. so here's a look at hurricane rina, much farther south. this is now a 110-mile-an-hour storm, nearly a major hurricane. a very small storm. we think it could very well directly impact some of the resort areas of mexico, cancun, cozumel, and beyon

. >>> i'm weather channel meteorologist carl parker and we're watching wet weather in the southeast. let's take a look at the radar picture and show you the tropical hybrid of a system coming into northern florida and georgia. those are the areas that really do want that rain and there is a tornado threat as well. along 95 in southeast georgia and a lot of rain coming into parts of south carolina today along with a fair amount of wind and that will be climbing up the coast the next couple of days. in the west, stormy morning i-5 and crescent city and eureka and we'll get into the north bay and stretch across the rest of the bay area and finally clearing the area by the middle of the day tomorrow. a beautiful day today, again in the northeast, very warm once again. that's going to change starting tomorrow and 84 in new york and well above average. scattered showers and storms and some severe weather, a little bit of rain across the middle of the country and 82 in san antonio and there's your rain in the west about 60 in portland and 74 in los angeles. chris, back to you. >> it's been

i'm weather channel meteorologist carl parker.es, it is raining once again across parts of the mid-atlantic region. we're not going to see a whole lot the next couple days, probably one to three inches. it might be enough to cause some flooding. here's a look at the hybrid system coming up across the southeast along with that moisture flowing into areas of the mid-atlantic region. so, we've got a few showers here around 95 and 85 and 81, but again, it's not going to be a tremendous amount of wet weather, maybe some convective bursts here. not a bad day across the northeast, a cooler day for you today in new york, 72 for the high today. across the middle of the country, very warm in your northern plains. 79, that's well above average in minneapolis. not too bad in texas. scattered showers in the northwest and warm in the southwest, getting a lot warmer later in the week, probably about 100 in phoenix by friday. this is hurricane jova. it's a major hurricane coming into the southwest corner of mexico, probably as a category 2, maybe

i'm carl parker and it's going to be a beautiful day in a lot of the east. not so much in the west. the satellite picture. you can see how it's just clear sky through most of the eastern half of the country. we do have a big storm coming into the west. along with that there's going to be quite a bit of rain and snow and wind. these are wind advisories in blue. winds gusting to 50 miles an hour in the mountains near los angeles and san diego. these are winter storm warnings in the sierra. could be some snow around lake tahoe, 12 to 20 inches in the highest elevations and obviously plenty of rain coming into the l.a. basin as well. also a lot of wind today in the northeast as the low continues to lift out. winds gusting to 35 miles an hour in boston. otherwise not bad at all. look at the temperatures, 74 in pittsburgh, nice change from the weekend. 87 in tampa. really warm weather building into the northern plains. that 86 in minneapolis, 30 degrees above average. there is your rain and snow across the west that's going to continue for the next few days. chris, back to you. >> thank y
