for army veteran carlos garcia, working as an arizona state park ranger isn't just a job.nd chance. >> i was homeless. i was out of work for about two years. i got into a little trouble. this program definitely has boosted me, my morale. it's helped me out a lot. i'm glad to be working again. >> cleaning, clearing, and keeping a close eye out while patrolling the state park. garcia is one of four veterans participating in a pilot program. >> i know that skillset that veterans have. i know they can do this job. >> that's why arizona state parks executive director, an air force veteran who flew special ops wanted to help homeless veterans like garcia. >> i'm trying to give these guys a skill, let them get their life back together, put something on your resume other than kicking in doors or driving tanks. >> he paid the vets $12 an hour and gives a fema trailer for them to live in. so far, garcia has saved money, lost 25 pounds, and even reconnected with his family. >> emotionally, spearchy, mentally, helped me out a lot. like i said, i'm grateful to be here. it's an awesome
