charles: carlos here.ey: we broke a story over the weekend that was tragic and it was hard to believe actually ras it unfolded. anton yelchin, who is, was an incredibly promising actor, star of "startrek" and really had such a career. 27 years old, killed in this freakish accident at his home in the san fernando valley some time late saturday night. what happened is really horrifying. he has a house that has a gate in front and he had just left to go to a rehearsal and the driveway is on an incline

carlos, i'm so glad you're here talking with us right now. tell us what you saw and heard last night. >> yeah. first of all, i want to thank you for having me on and i also want to send my condolences to the families that lost so many lives today and for those that are injured. but to get back to the patio, i actually was inside on the main dance floor. i was getting ready to order a cocktail or a drink, but i felt like it was a little too packed inside, so i actually walked out to the patio where there was less people so i can be able to order my last drink. as i was putting my order in, i was leaning over the counter talking to one of my best bartenders, holly, and that's when the first of 20 to 30 rounds went off. the first two rounds when it went off, everybody didn't really move because they thought it was part of the music because the music was so loud. and then when it kept on going, i think everybody's instinct went to this is not music, these are gunshots. and that's when everyone on the main dance floor just started running out of p

and people who live around here at the latest shooting that happened at 11th and san carlos say they e here but they do want to know where these men who are shot, were they targeted and was this random? now, so far, yesterday's shooting brings the total number of homicides in san jose this year to 24. last year, at the same time, it there were 10. the mercury news report that if the pace continues as is by year's end, san jose would have its highest homicide count in 24 years. the latest shooting happened in broad daylight on what's commonly referred to as greek row because it's lined with fraternity and sorority houses. two men were discovered inside the vehicle, shot several times. one man died, the other in critical condition. >> most of the stuff happened near but nothing to this degree like the shooting. that's what threw us off. we didn't expect the shooting to be so close to our house. >> reporter: and on monday night, a man sitting in his car was shot and killed in the area of lundy. police say there appears to be no connection between the two. the suspect's description that w

we spoke with carlos, 21 years old, lived in orlando for several years. came here every once in a while. he was thrust into an incredible situation. many would call it heroic. he was able to go out and see what was unfolding and go back inside and help some of the injured. he noticed people with gunshot wounds and carried them out. we spoke with christopher hansen, same situation. at first he didn't realize the shooting was a shooting. he thought it was part of the music. when he finally realized it, he dropped to the grouchnd, crawle over bodies to get out. took off his bandanna to help some of the injured victims. this is devastating. we also just spoke with the mayor who could not have enough words of praise for those 11 police officers, 11 police officers who managed to step in and take the gunman doubt. the first officer working security at the nightclub that was able to confront the suspect and managed to push him back inside. the suspect retreating inside, and then that first officer called for backup. still, it was a lot of confusion over the three hours wi
