carlie griffith is checking out the secondary roads tonight. she's live in orange county with the latest. >> we're on fairington roted right now. it's a secondary road as you said. and take uplook. it's completely clear. some primary roads we saw earlier were very wet because of all that melting that happened earlier today but there are more rural backroads that still have problem spots. that's why some places like orange county have decided to put schools on a two hour delay. we haven't heard anything from chapel hill carrboro schools. that means as of now, school is on track and on time for tomorrow. now one of the biggest problems that we actually saw today when we were out and about is that people were having trouble navigating sidewalks. many neighborhood sidewalks have not been touched so far and unc chapel hill students walking to class had a hard time getting through slick paths. some people were walking in the road when they could. but even then they had to hurdle over the mounds of snow on the side of the road. i spoke to one woman fr

live in johnston county, carly griffith, wn cn news now. >>> to help with low performing schools? >> as our political reporter bow minnick reports -- beau minnick reports, there's some opposition. >> we're try to do our own system, our own district, where we have an ability to make it fit for north carolina. >> the question these lawmakers are asking is does it fit in north carolina? a plan that would take five of the state's lowest performing elementary schools and group them into one district what's called an achievement district. the state would select a charter school operator to come in and try to turn the school around. >> we talk about low performance schools and we talk about where we want to go in education, we have to think about what we can do right now. >> reporter: if approved the plan would be a pilot program in north carolina starting in the 2017 and 2018 school year. a school selected would have to be in the lowest 5% of all schools. the school would also have to be not meeting or exceeding recent growth expectations. if approved, it would enter into a five year co

wncn's carlie griffith is live on the scene with the latest. >> reporter: we spoke to sheriff charles blackwood not long ago, he says they don't have a suspect in custody. they do not have any leads on a suspect as of yet. but they do know that this was an isolated incident. and there is not any immediate danger to the surrounding community. now, here's some video of what the scene looked like earlier this afternoon. investigators were working around a white car. they say that's where deputies found a man that was dead from multiple gunshot wounds. laying next to the truck of that car. now this happened in the and the sheriff says this kind
