reading carmen chu's letter, i am concerned that this is targeting small businesses. obviously larger businesses have more resources, probably legal departments that are going to protect them from, you know, potential lawsuits, but, again, as written, they are currently excluded. that might be an amendment that you could consider. you know, leases are private, so the arrangement between a landlord and a tenant, a tenant improvements are generally part of leases, particularly long- term leases. i do not see any thing with the disclosure. making sure it is in all. making sure this ada requirement really should be in every lease. i do not understand why it is not, so i would say that i support this, and i am really glad that the commission has identified the square footage issue. identifying ada improvements and wanting to exempt them. clerk: director? director: i think i ended up making my comments. clerk: commissioner riley? commissioner yee riley: there are times when you on a building, and they rented out to a commercial business. the timing is an issue. anytime you

commissioner campos: before you move forward, we have a question from commissioner carmen chu. commissioner chu: in terms of the safe route to school program, i know this is one thing that the area had applied for multiple times, unsuccessful in getting. has been a huge party, given the fact that there is a middle school, elementary school, another school behind its, a public library, a recreation center in the area. heavily trafficked area. i just wanted to get a sense from you about progress on that project. >> a very timely question. we have an issue we are trying to resolve on the grant for that project. it is almost $600,000. there is a deadline that the project sponsor missed on that grant that we just became aware of and they're trying to resolve them with the mtc. that is the best at intermission and in the right now.

my co-sponsor of the hearing is carmen chu, and she is under the weather today. i wanted to first say that this is a follow-up hearing since convening other hearings in 2009, large level discussions with the residents, they include the outside land conserves that are in august. strictly bluegrass occurs in october, and these events have become an irreplaceable part of the city's culture. these events are attended by hundreds of thousands of residents. attendees and enjoy the beautiful city and merchant corridors, many of them shot and died in the richmond district or the sunset district. about $60 million impact on the city's economy with much of that going to the richmond district, many of from experience the busiest days of the year. there are estimated 693 full- time positions in the city, and there is a report from the san francisco state university researchers who will identify some of these points later. i imagine that each of the other events from the marathon to of a large events bring in similar economic impact of a very positive to the neighborhood. the
