first we're going to hear from supervisor carmen chu. thank you so much.ause] >> thank you, ben, and thank you mayor lee for being out here. i wanted to bring the perspective of the district supervisor. here, as you know for ocean beach, much of ocean beaches the backyard of the sunset district. for many of my residence, you cross the street and there you are it ocean beach. for us, what have bishop -- happens at ocean beach is very much a part of what happens to our own homes and neighborhoods. my interest first started to get peeved because of all the issues we had here. not only the erosion issues, but if you drive along the highway, the road closures that happens, among other things. as a city leader, one of the things we started to recognize is that the real erosion issues were starting to threaten a things like our server infrastructure, among other critical pieces of san francisco's in for a stretcher. so it became pressing for us to pull together a collaboration of individuals to be here. i wanted to speak about how thrilled i am that is a master p

supervisor malia cohen, supervisor carmen chu. and the other members for their support in making public safety a priority. the president is here somewhere. and the rest of the police commission. this is just a tremendous day for san francisco. we have made tremendous inroads in impacting violent crime over the last few years. it is because of our staffing and the community support to do it through the community policing in the engagement of young people. this will allow us to keep doing that. we're going to lose close to 300 officers with the sunset of drop, and maybe another 100 officers before the summer of 2015. this will dramatically impact that. what the academy is is 29 weeks for entry level officers. eight weeks for lateral transfers. that includes a one-week fire arm training, one-week vehicle operation steny, one-week of officers of rival, and then continued use of force and physical training throughout. -- one-week vehicle operation training, one week of officer survival. and community policing. the mayor mentioned gary.

the office of small business, we created aam working with supervisor cohen chui en david chiu -- carmen chu and david -- launched in 2012. the program contains information that businesses that lists the federal and state laws that govern them. what is a cask program, what to look for in an inspectors, federal ada task credits and deductions a business can take, and informing businesses that their casp inspections can be taken as a text and data -- a tax deduction. we want to put together a loan program to help that -- businesses do with improvement and pay for an inspection. and work with the sf bar association to create some initial low-cost consultant for businesses. it should be noted that san francisco is the only city to date that has developed such a program for its small-business says. -- for its small businesses. with the annual mailing sent by the texas treasurer's office to food establishments, we mailed over 3000 food establishments in several different languages, information about needs for accessibility requirements, warnings of the potential lawsuits, and -- until we get that

i wanted to acknowledge supervise -- supervisor common to -- carmen chu. the legislation is important because it is an important step forward because it addresses a number of concerns of small businesses that we heard at the hearing. it requires commercial landlords to make entrances in bathrooms acceptable prior to leasing or notify the tenant that this has not been done. it also increases the notice that tenants, a commercial tenants of commercial -- potential liability if they're not in compliance and forms a small business tenants about their obligation. it requires the office of small business creates multilingual templates explaining how federal, state, and local disability access laws intersect and the critical part of it -- better education of our small business sector. this has been an important step forward and i am proud to be a co-sponsor and urge your support. president chiu: any further discussion? supervisor chu: i wanted to thank president chiu. many of our districts has seen a number of businesses that have suffered hardships from some of
