. >> reporter: joe carmona is not taking any chances.ves in an area of martinez prone to flooding. all the water wants to go straight into his basements. >> i been flooded before and i just horsed around and thinking, oh, yeah, you know, i'm ready. you're not. >> reporter: there's nothing last minute about preps this time. joe started two days ago cleaning out drains and gutters and raking leaves. all the patio furniture is covered. he even got everything off his garage and basement floors and bought a new pump. >> the water usually if it does flood is going to come up to here. >> reporter: he remembers one particular flood that wiped out his basement. >> had no food, had no water. you know, i thought oh, man, i will never do that again. >> reporter: but his biggest concern is something he can do very little about. >> the wind, because these trees are old, and, um, when it starts blowing around, then -- then you have problems. >> reporter: but in case the power goes out, a big-time camper, joe's got his stove, fresh propane and lights. >
