hi, dan. >> reporter: good morning, carol.ays since this catastrophic event and i think it is possible we will get a better sense in terms of number of people dead and the number of people missing. there is going to be a huge conference in a couple of hours. authorities are preparing everyone here in this area that the news is going to be quite bleak. they say that the death toll is going to rise significantly. at this point, you said, there are 17 confirmed dead. although we know that seven more people have been found in the debris. they just haven't taken the bodies out yet. those bodies near to be cleared by the medical examiner's office before they update the death toll officially. in terms of the number of people missing, as you said, it has been a confusing number. at one point, it was 176. it dropped down to 90 and still, an enormous amount of people. that gives you a sense in terms of the utter devastation that we are dealing with. first responders say there is still a disbelief in terms of the things they are seeing.

those are the top headlines. >> thank you carol massar. joining me to talk about caesars and their earnings is isi analyst richard hightower. you describe the brief history of what caesars has been and what it has become? >> it is the world's largest gaming company. most people are concerned about the size of the debt relevant to the assets. with the most recent transactions, one entity with selling assets to another to generate liquidity to help the first entity pay off its debt service. >> how do they get so much debt? >> the company was taken private in 2008 by private equity on sirs. -- sponsors. it put $20 million of debt onto the company to take it private. since then, it has been a question of where operations have gone and what they will be able to do with that that balance. these negative things that happened to gaming during that time. >> is caesar's and a good commission -- good position compared to its competitors? >> i would say that it is not in nearly as good a position because of the exposure that those companies have. >> m
