carol, it's great to see you. what do we know about how this intricate complex deal came together without most people knowing anything about it? >> well, it took a ton of diplomacy. meetings after meetings after meetings. the president's team, i mean even at one point was sending names, you know, through hard copies to berlin, transmitting the german officials of germans who were political prisoners that they could possibly get out. really as you mentioned, it started after brittney griner was released in december of 2022, and it went from there. but if you just take what happens starting in january when the u.s. felt like it really got a breakthrough with germany because that was the sticking point whether the germans were going to allow this russian fact to be freed. russia wasn't going to deal without that happening. in january, the president called the chancellor and said let's have a meeting. this is on the agenda. they met in february and tay agreed to have alex see navalny as a big prisoner swap. days later
