i'm carol costello and we begin with our first look at hannah anderson since the fbi helped rescue heralso disturbing new evidence found at the home of the man accused of kidnapping her and killing her mother and brother. that evidence includes condoms, boxes for handcuffs and letters from hannah. cnn's casey wian is live in san diego this morning with more. good morning, casey. >> good morning, carol. you know, at that first public appearance by hannah anderson she rushed quickly by more than a dozen cameras and did not say anything to reporters. but once she got inside the restaurant where the fund-raiser was happening, people who were there said she was much more relaxed. what she really wanted to do was thank those who have supported her throughout this ordeal. hannah anderson's arrival at a fund-raiser for her family came as a surprise to her relatives and friends. >> this night was an unexpected reunion, honestly. all our friends were here. it was like we haven't skipped a beat. >> reporter: the media were invited to boll weevil restaurant but weren't allowed inside during hannah

carol. perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that hannah anderson did what any teenage girl might do these days after enduring a life-changing ordeal. she went on social media and discussed it with her peers. 16-year-old hannah anderson is sharing details about her kidnapping on social media, that's according to the associated press. the a.p. reports that hannah fielded questions about her abduck by the man she knew as uncle jim, james dimaggio. a user asked, did you want to go with dimaggio? she replied, no, not at all. why didn't you run? he would have killed me. why didn't you tell your parents he creeped you out? in part, he was my dad's best friend and i didn't want to ruin anything between them. she shed new light on the night she was kidnapped and the same night her mother and brother were murdered. how did he separate you from your mom and brother? he tied them up in the garage. how did he keep the fire a secret? he had it set to catch on fire at a certain time. the ap says hannah also wrote dimaggio threatened to kill her if she fled and brought her at least in part to carry equipment

carol costello. we begin with a dramatic rescue of an abducted teenage per. right now hannah andersonk with her father. she does not appear to have any physical injuries, but, of course, the emotional trauma is haunting. police say her captor, a man described as a long-time family friend killed her mother and her younger brother before whisking the teenager into the idaho wilderness. and new this morning, images of just how determined james dimaggio was in hiding his getaway car. look very closely at the images and you will see the brush and timber that made the car virtually invisible both from the ground and from the air. but not far away the big break came when an alert horseback rider, three of them, four of them actually, had a chance encounter. they became suspicious. they called authorities who tracked them down and shot and killed dimaggio once he stepped safely away from the teenager. her rescue came as much needed consolation for family and friends who are mourning the deaths of her mother and brother. here is a great aunt of the teenager. >> i can't even cry anymore i'm so

carol? >> like that, alison kosik, many thanks. >>> this morning, hannah anderson is waking up in familiar surroundingse first comforting sign of normalcy since she was kidnapped more than a week ago that saw her mother and younger brother murdered. an fbi shot and killed her abductor after the so-called family friend fired at least one shot at swarming agents. that operation had to lurch into gear virtually without warning. the helicopter crew zeroed in on the camp site with shocking speed. u.s. marshals watched hannah and her kidnapper in disbelief. >> it appears that they were just going about their normal activity, gathered firewood and walked around and really it didn't appear like they were doing anything out of the ordinary, but they were the only ones in this -- in that area. we searched the area and there was no one else within several miles. however, there's a very highly populated river that was only about three miles away to their east and there's a lot of rafters and stuff that float down that river. and that was a major concern of ours during the investigation was that maybe they made it

carol. actually coming to you from los angeles this morning. if this story couldn't get any more disturbing, it has. as you mentioned, those search warrants, newly released. disclosed that not only were hannah anderson'sher and younger brother killed, before they died, the search warrants say they were tortured. grisly new details are surfacing in the alleged kidnapping and murder case of suspect james dimaggio. according to these newly released search warrants, dimaggio tortured and killed his best friend's wife and 8-year-old son and shot and killed the family dog. police also say they found a crow bar and what appeared to be blood on the ground next to christina anderson's body. 40-year-old dimaggio allegedly then set his house on fire and kidnapped the couple's 16-year-old daughter, hannah. the documents say he spoke with 13 times on the phone earlier that day. the fbi rescued anderson on saturday and killed dimaggio during the confrontation. an idaho coroner said he was shot at least five times. >> as for my daughter, the healing process will be slow. she has been through a tremendous, horrific ordeal. >> reporter: now home, anderson has quickly taken to social media to help cope with her pain. m
