they could not do carol maloney who should not be able to accept that position. they declared a winner over a guy who is saying what happened? he thought he won. they torbot that election over again in manhattan. it's a disgrace.should do that over again in manhattan. it's a disgrace. that was a small election. 51 million all over the country. they will send them to whoever send those ballots, is a very powerful person. and on the assumption that the person is honest, it will still be fraught with error. even if somebody was honest because people die and other people see it and grab it and sign it and send it back. you can't have -- it's impossible to have a fair election like this. >> sean: can you give us a preview of the democratic national convention this week? will you be watching joe biden tonight? >> i will, i will watch. i watched a lot of hate last night and the night before. tremendous hate. >> sean: what about a preview of your convention that starts monday? >> i think we will have more live than what they did. it's boring when you do tapes. i will go

. >> carole maloney says these are the president's attempts to prevent millions of americans from having their votes counted. i want to ask if you agree with that, in a political sense. but as things stand right now, in light of the changes, do you believe that the u.s. postal service will be able to deal with the flood of mail-in ballots that will be heading out in november? >> i think, generally, yes. but anything that slows down the mail, slows down everything we do. from the -- from the medicines you talked about, to the checks, to the retirement checks, to the financial transactions. and, yes, ballots. now, the postal service doesn't run elections. the states, throughout this country, do. the postal service has great capacity to handle influx of mail. it's -- it happens during all different seasons. it's really happened during this pandemic, where packages have gone up a lot while people were sheltered in place. but it -- but it is troubling whenever mail slows down. we've been -- we have been doing vote by mail, as postal workers in the postal service, for generations in this count

new york city, all the delays in the election with carol maloney and all the others, that wasn't a postalystem. that was an election process. we had six or seven weeks trying to count these votes. it wasn't because the ballots were necessarily in some letter carrier's pallets. the president is right in addressing this. this is more about states trying to recreate how they get their ballots and they're trying to do it on a compressed time line that just won't work. but let me come back to -- you've got a couple of democrat senators that are going to come on. ask them are they asking to put forth a stimulus check in every american citizen's hands? are they willing to do that, couple that with the postal reform, making sure that we have small business? if they're willing to lead on that, the president is willing to sign it. i can tell you i talked to him this morning. he wants to make sure that we get it done. >> right. >> we have just as much of a crisis with people that are hurting during this pandemic as we do as the post office. >> yeah. i mean, we can get into the negotiations and i wan

neil: i understand the postmaster general will be testifying on capitol hill before, you know, carol maloney's committee, but you're voting on this measure today. shouldn't you wait to hear from him first? >> well, i don't think so. the testimony is about the actions he's already taken. much of this bill is about the ability for him to do the job that he's supposed to be doing and to maybe undo some of the things he's already done. now, i know he testified yesterday before a senate committee at which time he made it very clear he does not plan to undo any of the stuff he's already done. when you take sorting machines out of post offices in states where 100% of the voting takes place by mail, it tells me you have some sinister motives and so we are going to hear from him on monday defend those motives that i consider to be sinister. he may think that there's some good to it and that's why they're having him to testify. it's got little to do with the-- >> what if it's not sinister? i know at that it does sort of fill a narrative here, but this happens routinely through different postmaster gener

chairman, let me acknowledge my leadership of my longtime friend carol maloney, i've known since beginningof her career and i acknowledge the wonderful points made by my colleagues, george washington actually had the post office of engaged citizenry, that's why i represent the postal service early years delivering newspapers. but the post office handled almost 50% of the world mail, this is an important institution, i don't think the president of the united states has any idea of what he unleashed because it's not only there, it is clearly description medication, at least a quarter of americans over 65 get the medication through the mail and in fact we have been encouraging that because the data indicated that there is more accuracy through mail-in medications so medicaid and medicare have been encouraging people to get their meds through the mail. i saw and ran into a veteran today who was in tears because his meds were consistently late over the last two months. i had no answer other than i was getting on a plane today and going back to washington to at least try to fix a piece of this.

congressman: look at what happened to sponsor of their bill, carol maloney, they want the chaos, theyection day but they want to keep counting just like they did in new jersey 4 weeks after their primary election. imagine if it takes 6 weeks to figure out who won one congressional primary, now they are talk about live ballots being mailed out to everyone and then counting ballots after the president -- imagine the chaos that that's going -- that's going to have. that's the thing that scares me so we don't want to get this cleared up straightened up ahead of up and we want fair election. ainsley: all right, congressman scalise? congressman: there's in place for hypercharge language that she uses, enemies of the state and all of this. that's the hypercharge language that led to craze gunman trying to kill every republican on the ball field. why don't we focus on the issues? they don't want to talk about issues. we have seen the play book before on the ballots. in louisiana we sent an election commissioner to jail for voter fraud, the idea that it doesn't happen. if you mail millions of
