. >>> later dat family of carol glover is expected to file a lawsuit. glover died earlier no month when smoke filled a yellow line train. delia goncalves joins us live at l'enfant plaza. that's where the train was at the time. delia? >> reporter: that's right. carol glover was on her way home from work and of course she never made it home, died on that train, that smoke-filled metro train here at l'enfant plaza earlier this month. originally her family said they were not placing game. they wanted to read metro's report. now they clearly believe that metro was negligent and are seeking $10 million in damages. the 61-year-old was the only person who lost her life on that train, but there were scores of other people who were hurt and suffered smoke inhalation. many other folks say they were choking, fainting. they thought they were near death. they were all trapped for more than a half-hour. reports now have uncovered a number of missteps and failures, including radios that did not work between metro and responding firefighters. deneen baker was on the tra

at this very hour one week ago today carol glover was probably getting ready for work just beginning her commute on metro. she never knew she would not be returning home that day. we all know now she died on that smoke filled train monday last week. in the afternoon she was heading home from work. now, her family members and her friends will come here to this church on capitol hill to say goodbye. well they are now a pal orgiesing to the family of carol glover and to all metro riders, a letter was printed in an ad in sundays washington post, metro's leadership promises full disclosure and cooperation with the investigation and they say they will take immediate action to address any interim recommendations writing, "we know we have to redouble our efforts to learn from this and take every step necessary to make sure it doesn't happen again." >> they really need to make a better effort than letters. >> i guess it's a good thing. it doesn't make up for what happened. >> it's just words on a paper. this is washington d.c. >> an advertisement just seems about the wrong way to go about it.

he says while she was a stellar system analyst, the 2014 employee of the year, it's carol glover the person he'll remember. >> she had a stellar smile, very energetic, one that always tried to find ways of doing thing better. >> reporter: glover was one of four children. they grew up in northeast d.c. in the shadow of rfk stadium. they was a studious child. >> her first day of kindergarten she took two books to school with her, the world book encyclopedia and dr. seuss. she was so excited about learning and reading. >> reporter: she was the mother of two sons including a u.s. marine and recently became a grandmother. >> a doting grandmother like you can't imagine. she really loved having grandkids. >> reporter: all that cut far too short after her untimely death at age 61. while many have been critical of the fact that passengers including glover were stuck on a smoke filled metro car nearly an hour, the inmans are not rushing to judgment waiting on the investigation. >> it's hard for me to really say what they should have done or shouldn't have done. >> reporter: what is easy for inm

on carol glover who died that day. he says he was on the train an hour before being evacuated. >> it was way too long for the people on our car to get the help that they needed. so you know an hour can't survive in an hour if you're really in trouble. >> today, the mayor said an initial report on the incident will be released in the next 48 hours. >> from our point of view we have to make sure that the response time for our department responded in every -- every fast and safe way possible. >> fire service consultant dave statter questions the timing of many aspects of the response. >> certainly if you're on that train, it's an eternity. but the firefighters do have to make sure they're safe. >> in the end carol glover was taken to the hospital at 4:25 p.m. more than an hour after eyewitnesses reported first seeing smoke. as for that report that it was released within 48 hours, it will also include hours of radio traffic information as well as interviews from first responders. as for metro, we called them to get a comme
