. >> caroline tyler is live from city hall with that story. carolyn?> reporter: we're told the average san francisco schoolteacher makes about $3400 a month, while the average one bedroom apartment rents for about $3600 a month. so you can see if a teacher is evicted it would be hard to find another place to live. alison is a p.e. teacher in san francisco. she says her work's been affected since she was forced out of her apartment in december. >> if i did not have to go through this eviction during the school year, then my time and my students would be much better served. >> reporter: she may be able to move back into her place after the land lord finishes repairs. but those who gathered on the steps of city hall today say anyone who works for any school in the city, public, private, parochial, janitors or educators, should not be kicked out of their home during the academic year. there's already a similar law protecting families with children being displaced until summer break. the supervisor is behind the new legislation and says while many san franc
