. >> abc 7 news reporter carolyn tyler live at the mission bay lot that will soon be the warriors' field of dreams. carolyn? >> reporter: well, you see a lot of preparation going on behind me. they have put up a big tent because they were a little worried about what the weather was going to be like today but it seems to be perfect. the team had a major victory last night over a big rival, the cleveland cavaliers and today they had a big the opponents of the arena in the state supreme court. i'll tell you about that in just a couple of seconds but since the owners bought the team back in 2010 they envisioned moving that team to san francisco. they tried first as you know along the waterfront but there was so much opposition there they purchased this site from salesforce. it will be called chase center, that bank bought the naming rights. it will be slightly smaller than oracle, 18,000 seats. it's for more than just basketball. there will be conferences and other events. the warriors are paying for the billion dollar arena. mayor ed lee called this his legacy project. but as with many thin

i'm carolyn tyler. fire damaged several businesses in south san francisco, including a medical clinic that has at least one cancer patient sergio cantana is there live. sergio. >> reporter: carol, the firefighters were able to quickly contain this fire. you can see how they had to slice into the wall to vent the heat. they could get inside, and, there is a whole lot of damage inside. can you see lots of fear trucks surrounding the building. it happened this morning at 8:00. there was no one injured. the business was closed. when you take a look inside, the water damage is extensive. that's not good for patients at the medical clinic, including one woman who is fighting cancer. >> i'll try and find a hospital or somewhere elsewhere i can get a test done because then i have to have the test done before i see the doctor, and the heart doctor wants me on wednesday. >>> well, there is no word just yet on how the fire started, but it is clear this place will not be open for a while. the man who shot that cell

i'm carolyn tyler. eric thomas is off tonight. york elected to fire general manager trent baalke who hired chip kelly just 353 days ago. rick kwan is here and rick, ownership is hitting the reset button. >> yeah, not a big surprise. something had to be done. after losing a franchise record 13 straighten route to a 2-14 season, there was little doubt changes were store for this once proud organization. today it became official as the niners fired both general manager trent baalke and head coach kelly. kelly leaves after one season of his four year $24 million contract. the niners are still paying off his predecessor jim tomsula. ball key was with the niners since 2005 and helped the teams that create that reached three straight nfc championship games and one super bowl. a roster depleted have left san francisco with the second worst record in the league. when kelly was asked if he had the players to compete, he made no excuses. >> i don't look at i wish i had this or that. we were fortunate for the guys we had and tried to coach th

good morning, everyone, i am carolyn tyler, and thank you for joining us on this sunday, january 22nd. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist, lisa argen. >> live doppler 7 picking up the heaviest rain in the east bay and parts of the south bay, and you will notice the yellows and darker greens indicating the heavier shades of rain, and this is where we have a flood advisory, until 6:45. be advised of that around the santa cruz mountains and san jose, and sunnyvale looking for heavy rain in a short period of time. the yellow around 6 fpl680. this is where we are going to see the rain enhanced for the next several hours, where it begins to lighten up and end here in parts of the east bay to ma rauga. we will look for the winds to dial back as the front pushes trough. still quite gusty from livermore. the rain ends for the next couple of hours and then the winds calm down a bit before it all gets reinvigorated this afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms. >>> the rough surf turned up by the storm turned deadly for a paraglider. he fell into the ocean off of

i am carolyn tyler. >> i am dan ashley. the storm is here and we are seeing some of the flooding we were worried about. >> mike nicco is tracking the storm with live doppler 7. the worse is still to come? >> that's the key, and we are waking up to flood warnings for the guadalupe river. you can see south of downtown san jose, until 11:00 -- at least 11:10, and i will double-check the numbers in a minute, and it takes a while for all the rain to select and move into the creeks and eventually the rivers and more rain is on the way for you later this morning and afternoon. right now we have a flash flood warning for santa rosa all the way to sonoma, and down 121 to serious point. petaluma is also seeing some of the creeks pushing out. this is where the rain is falling right now and will continue to fall for the next hours, and we have more wet weather, heavy storms hitting in from the south and hitting the rest of us. from now to 7:00, it's heaviest to the north and then moving to the south bay during the late morning and earl

i'm carolyn tyler in for eric thomas. the celebrations have been going on all night all over the world. fireworks celebrations lit up the skies above manila. right now an estimated 200,000 people are ready for the big show to ring in the new year here in san francisco. abc7 is live with more. >> good evening, carolyn. tonight we witnessed something a little different. a political protest as a new year's eve celebration. around 100 people marched down market street. and at one point they shut it down. first this view. there are hundreds of thousands of people gathering to watch the fireworks and they're bundled up. >> reporter: before the crackle of fireworks, the sizzle of bacon draws people. >> we drove out here for this. >> reporter: from where? >> fresno. >> reporter: for a bacon wrapped hot dog. yeah. no, i'm joking. we came for the fireworks. >> reporter: and a moment of gratitude. >> thank you for everything you do for us. thank you so much. >> they protect us and keep our streets safe. >> reporter: others say they'

carolyn tyler is live in golden gate park where several trees also fell. carolyn? >> reporter: yes.old 20 trees gave way here in golden gate park. the rain and the wind really did a number throughout the city. >> my car right now, everything here outside and inside. >> reporter: this man found out the hard way what can happen when you park under a tree and a storm blows through. his lexus suv was crushed just off third street in the bayview neighborhood. he's not the only one who will have to find another way to get around. three cars were damaged by an 80-foot cypress near the university of san francisco. sunday's storm has had san francisco's public works crews scrambling to answer 169 calls and counting about downed trees and falling branches. >> we have an all hands on deck today. we've got our landscape crews as well as our tree crews going out, cleaning up. >> reporter: a dramatic incident took place in golden gate park near the soccer fields. a man was trapped for three hours after a tree fell on his tent. san francisco firefighters got him out. we also saw two huge trees col
