he was a 63-year-member of the carpenter's union local 22, charter member of the united irish cultural center and long-time parishioner of st. paul's church in san francisco. he is survived by five sons, michael, stephen, thomas, james, and loyal and devoted friend to those who will miss his wit and charm. [speaker not understood]. the rest i submit. >> thank you, supervisor farrell. supervisor kim. >> thank you. many of you probably read that last week we made an exciting announcement that the market which will be a 22,000 square foot food emporium will be moving into 1355 market street. the old san francisco mart on ninth and market street. this is quite exciting because this will be the first full-service grocery store in the mid-market tenderloin area and the market will offer local san francisco vendors an opportunity to showcase and sell locally made food products and promote local -- our local san francisco maker sector to be a priority when we think about the revitalization of central market. long before over the last year and a half, our office was thinking about what it means

union scale wages out of chicago. we have a prevailing wage law that says, maybe the average car carpenter in colombia that makes $30 per hour, but it has to be $70 per hour. schools and roads being built with federal money sometimes cost up to 20% more. why don't we get rid of davis- bacon? it will save us $10 billion a year. [applause] but i don't think the president was really listening, so i came up with a few other ideas to get his attention. for example, we spent $325,000 on the robotic squirrel last year. why would we need that? scientists wanted to know if a rattlesnake would strike a squirrel that was not wagging its tail. but they could not get into this world -- get a squirrel to volunteer to do that. $325,000 for that. we spent half a million dollars developing a unit to mars. if you have a child that is 26 years old and we were waiting for them to move out? it is the perfect job for that. there are a lot of government jobs like this. it pays 5000 -- $5,000, it was done in hawaii, two weeks. the prerequisites for doing the study were pretty strict. your kid had to like food. after spending $5,000 per person

union. [applause] it was and john lennon that taught people about peace and peaceful resistance. that job fell on the shoulders of a jewish carpenter a long time ago. [applause] their rights that so many americans ignorantly preach about, line about aren't even there's. they don't belong to us. those rights belong to god. we are caretakers of those rights. they belong to him and are given to us for stewardship and they are pretty important and they are pretty obvious. in fact, they were so obvious we used to say that they were self-evident for those people that are currently under indoctrination in the universities. let me explain self-evident. [applause] that means that they are so simple humans don't even have to have them explained to them. you know. you don't need to be taught. you instinctively know that you have a right not to be executed without trial, not to be held without charge and to be searched without a warrant or spied upon without a cause. [applause] the government is no longer the protector of those rights. they are the chief flight leader of the rights. so we must stand and protect them. when we are told that the

carpenter it was a great way to make wages. we have young kids coming back from overseas and these jobs that are in the union's right now that pay $45 per hour, plus benefits, i know that for a fact because i have been a union member for 15 years. get into those anymore. the reason i know that is because i was under instructions for 17 years in santa ana and anaheim. i watched as students came in that war in their 30's and 40's. relate todoes that this question of border security and immigration? caller: that was the next thing i was going to sit. border security is not needed the way people think it is needed. what they have to do is e-to verify. verify. fine on anyone hiring a person and you will find the illegal immigrants will self the port. -- self-deport. and is what we have to do, you can do just that. we want to show you a live image now outside the u.s. supreme court building. folks are getting tickets to be able to get him and hear the decisions rendered by the court. those are people who have been standing in line in hopes of getting access to the court. he conceded television camera and news media set up behind them.
