the bay bridge, the san mateo bridge, the carquinez bridge and the altamonte pass. >>> too much wind makes fire more dangerous and that's why hundreds of firefighters have rushed to a wildfire north of napa last night. it spread quickly and is threatening a number of homes in that area. kpix 5's anne makovec is on the scene of this breaking story and she joins us now. >> reporter: i am along silverado trail right now. you can see the specks of fire there behind me on the hillside. we have some better pictures, though, taken overnight. a little bit closer you can see the flames. the fire has burned about 300 acres now north of napa. it is about 25% contained, and it started at about 9:30. then about 11:30 evacuations began. that meant about 50 families in this area under mandatory evacuation orders. i mean we're with captain amy head with cal fire. thanks for being with us. this morning. the winds, it's cold and windy. how is that affecting the firefight? >> it's been a challenge. whenever we get these northerly winds, which we were expecting, it's always a big challenge for firefight

everything is clear including the eastshore freeway commute 19 minutes now pretty typical between the carquinez bridge to the maze. golden gate bridge traffic everything flowing nicely out of novato all the way down through san rafael. and heading towards doyle drive really nice and quiet all green on all the traffic sensors and now that it's past 5:00 the roadwork has also been picked up northbound 880. they have various lanes blocked. we haven't seen this that while approaching the downtown oakland exit between 23rd and broadway. all lanes are now reopened and caltrans says it's free and clear. southbound and northbound. southbound traffic looks great heading past oakland airport and continuing down towards highway 92 in hayward. bart is also a great option today. so far they have all their trains running on time including those downtown san francisco spots. and we show you a check of your drive times. for this time of the morning, everything is quiet including westbound 580 through the altamont pass. there is some roadwork still in lanes eastbound going against the commute approaching north

but overall, the drive time is still give or take about 19 or 20 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maze. through the altamont pass, the biggest delays right now are actually out of tracy. 205 to north flynn. and then some slowing again towards vasco. but again, the real bottleneck is right there through the altamont pass and the livermore valley. that is your latest "kcbs traffic report." for more on your forecast, here's lawrence. >> and we are still seeing some rainfall outside. in fact some heavy downpours showing up on our hi-def doppler radar this morning. see for yourself we have that rain sliding through with the heaviest in parts of the east bay but headed towards the south bay now but boy it has been dumping and you can see the yellows and the oranges even that red right there in the center, that is some very heavy rainfall that's coming down through livermore and pleasanton. it will continue to sag to the south throughout the morning hours. most of that moisture now is headed in towards southern california. but we're not done just yet. you can see those showers making
