up to people heading out, power outages reported at several metro stations including vienna, new carrollton, glenmont, wheaton, bethesda, prince gorge's plaza, minnesota avenue and takoma. that is quite a few stations, some on the red line. we'll stay on top of this to give you updates as we get it in. gary, back to you so you can give everyone the very latest on these storms moving through. >> they're still issuing these warnings ahead of these thunderstorms. radar will show you the extent of this line which has been growing from north to south in the last 30 minutes or so. so now we have a very constant line that's just west of baltimore with very heavy rain, intense lightning and pockets of damaging wind. it goes all the way down i-95. part this was just to the east of i-95. it's moved through fredericksburg and you can see it's all the way down through richmond as well. there are pockets that have stronger winds it looks like than other pockets of this line now. i want to switch over to our sentinel radar because i've isolated -- what you're seeing here is green. it's not rain, though.

a metro transit police officer has shot and killed a man on lory lane in new carrollton. our surae chinn is live on the scene with more on the investigation. what do you know? >> reporter: well, lesli, metro says the transit police officer is lucky to be alive. right now they are deep into their investigation. you can see all the police cars here. behind that police are saying the suspect is still in the middle of the road. metro says the detective who is a six-year veteran came to the neighborhood to talk to people and witnesses say the officer came out with a gun and chased after the officer. it also appears the suspect rammed the officer's car which metro says is consistent with the radio communication from the officer. there was an exchange of gunfire and witnessed heard four to five shots. the 44-year-old suspect was found dead in the road and metro says the man was a person of interest in an attempted abduction of a 25-year-old woman at a d.c. metrobus stop. that victim says the man was impersonating a police officer. >> he's a good dude. his father just passed away

you know, if you're in new carrollton bound on marc, metro may have been a good option except for this downed tree. looks like a messy evening all around. but if you have the ability to have someone pick you up at green belt and pick the green line-up, that is a good option if that works for you. >> dan, what about bus service? >> yeah, bus services bearing the brunt of these delays, largely the result of traffic conditions in the region. you know, as we saw that tornado watch and severe storm move into prince george's county about half hour, i guess about an hour ago now. that's when those delays were really bad as cells move through various parts of the region, it is affecting bus delays and buses are, bus operators are going to slow down and put on their hazard lights and if the conditions are especially bad, they're going to pull over for safety reasons. >> all right. all right, dan, you know, good luck for the remainder of the evening. it's going to be tough. eventually get there from here, but it will be a while. thanks so much. >> just be really patient out there. >>> we're also
