i'm joined now by doctor ben carson. dr. carson, welcome to the program. dr. carson: thank you.e to be with you. fernando: you recently that said that donating to donald trump would be a good investment for the big donors in the republican party. can you elaborate more? how is this a good investment? dr. carson: well, in comparison to bernie sanders and hillary clinton, who feel like the solutions to everything come from the rich. if we take their money we can solve all the problems. the fact of the matter is, we are in so much trouble right now, not just the national debt, but the fiscal gap. you could take all the money from the rich and you wouldn't even make a dent in it. these are not the solutions we want. we want the real solutions that get to the base of the problem. fernando: so, last time we balanced the budget, it was a combination of tax increases and budget cuts, which seems to be the formula for balancing most budgets beyond the federal budget. is that not the most appropriate path since it's been proven to work? dr. carson: maybe it would have been an appropriate

ben carson. did dr. carson emerge from the conversation upbeat that the two men, the speaker and the republican nominee would emerge hand in hand going forward towards the convention? >> you know, listen. speaker ryan is a good guy. he's a principled guy. a strong guy just like mr. trump. speaks his mind. very candid and an honest guy. so you can't take offense at the speaker being candid just like mr. trump speaks candid. you have to respect that. so what the speaker was saying is this. we've got a down ticket. there are people who are nervous about the kinds of things mr. trump has said in the past. can we be assured? they want a president to be willing to negotiate and who understands what their goals and their policies are. that's reasonable. >> the bottom line is last week, the speaker told cnn's jake tapper he was not ready to endorse donald trump meeting, d him being ready? >> no, i don't think so. it shouldn't happen. >> why? >> it's a process. they're meeting. men are meeting. both with critical

wentz and vice verse a carson wentz could have ton the same thing. think bradford could have texted carson wentz or got together with wentz, sought him out, done something publicly, image wise to make that transition smoother. >> why would he have to, why would wentz have to call him. >> wentz could make it easier by saying hey sam, i'm glad you are here. i'm looking forward to competing with you. i am looking forward to learning from you all that kind of stuff. that would have taken the edge off. instead you have an edge where bradford, fear is, he will not help wentz develop. wentz could have reached out by saying you are the master, i'm the pupil. just smooth sailing. i'm all about smooth sailing, you know. >> smooth transition. >> carson wentz the rookie, bigger guy in the situation. do you think there will be tension with him and bradford. >> i think relationship with him and other quarterback in the room will be great. really competitive atmosphere. hopefully we will all learn and grow together and push each other and ultimately lead to benefit

carson said,er they know what he means.ay i don't know what he means because i only have his words to go by and i don't find them palatable. i find them highly objectionable but least he is saying we're going to make america great again. some of the wealth and other achievements he's managed in his life will trickle down to me. whether that happens obviously we have a lot of questions about that, but to the people that dr. carson is referring to, donald trump speaks a language they can understand and that works for them. >> i know you said you don't think the independent candidate will materialize, one that mitt romney seems to be looking for. how do you respond to the argument that some trump supporters, that they make the argument, the will of the public is circumvented if trump is not the argument. is there anything with that that you can agree. >> that is absolutely true. it is circumventing the will of the people. mitt romney is not really involved in the third party search. everybody seems to be playing it up but i'm

well mike, the worst-kept secret over, carson wentz is the eagles quarterback. was there at the draft in chicago when the eagles selected them. >> what about the ovation for carson wentz. >> no boos. >> and just like everybody else, you have to wait and see. it scares me that he is a 1 aa quarterback. they need a franchise quarterback and believe in this kid, and he could be the franchise like mcnabb was. and he will face different speed in the nfl than he ever faced before and will take awhile to adjust. >> do you think it is the franchise quarterback of the future for the eagles? >> i hope he is. they invested in it, that he is. it is a matter of how they break him in. bradford back next year, an easier break-in because they don't have to play him. if bradford is not back, he may have to play next year and i don't know if he will be ready to play next year. and chase is the starter and not to take that anything with the pressure, that if he doesn't play well the fans screaming for wentz to play, like they screamed for mcnabb. and bradford here is important. >>
