bryant elementary, carver elementary and everett middle schools are on the state's list of persistently low performing schools. they are part of a movement to get millions if school performances improve. they have to replace a total of 26 teachers. that option was not their first choice. >>> san jose hit a major financial milestone but it is nothing to brag about. they filed for bankruptcy protection, a record for the city. experts say this year could be worse because in overall unemployment numbers are not improving and people who have been able to hang on for a year and a half don't see any relief. the trend is the same in other parts. bankruptcies increased 20%. the numbers for the other counties are not complete but through the first 11 months 4700 filings were processed up from 2009. many are small business owners who have catched their customers cut back on spending leaving the merchants with less revenue. >>> a report about the type of damage a storm could do to california. they are racing concerns about chemicals and the health of pregnant women. >>> a lot of fog and sunshine, m

lisa carver from our nbc station in connecticut talks about curing their allergies by helping them live a normal life. >> hey, big guy, how are you doing? how have you been feeling? >> good. >> this 7-year-old sees an allergist regularly. he is no ordinary allergist heading up the new england food allergy treatment center with a unique approach to peanut allergies. the 7-year-old describes a peanut allergy attack. >> it felt like a piece of toothbrush was stuck in my throat. >> reporter: many parents with children and deadly peanut allergies are fearful of exposure. >> it is just too hard to trust people with the allergy. if you don't live it you don't understand it. >> reporter: this is essentially peanut dust being measured out in a special room. it is then mixed into food and given to patients starting with a very small amount and gradually increasing. it is called oral immunotherapy. >> it will desensitive them to peanuts so the goal for us is to have them take approximately two to three peanuts every day. >> reporter: at first patients must wait a few hours at the clinic after gett

carver, dr. hamilton, where you talk about how we have no net worth. i really get that. there are provisions in the tax code while there is very much made of the welfare money that black people get. there is a transfer of wealth for the policy to americans. like the mortgage interest production division. billions of dollars each year based on non-merit. passed with no consequences as of the current law's. all of these asset transfers mean that the top 1% of our population yet one-third of all of these transfers. some people get as little as $5 a ball of the asset transfers. we do need to engage in not just debating whether or not we are going to expand the bush tax cuts or not. even the bush tax cuts for people under $200,000 per year provides six times as much tax relief for the rich as they do others. we need to throw it all in and get a more aggressive tax program. of course, mr. jim carr was a very boring panelist from the national community reinvestment coalition. but he did point out that the bailouts really worked. give him a 0% interest loan and see what he does
