that is called watching nurse casey hickox. who is doing this? do you have one trooper outside of her house? >> no. i do not work with the state police. i'm the police chief here in fort kent, maine. the state police, actually, have an administration who has -- is working at the governor's request to track casey. we are not. they have troopers posted outside of her house, and they are going to monitor her movements, and we have not been told anything otherwise to monitor. not restricting and not preventing her from leaving her house in the immediate area. >> so, chief, how has this changed the way in which your y? >> it's raised some concerns amongst our citizens here in fort kent, and, you know, we have been reinforcing what the medical professionals have been telling us that she is not symptomatic. she does not display any symptoms of ebola. as the doctor has noted earlier that we do not have an ebola patient in this state. she is taking precautions, and following the federal cdc guidelines from what we understand. so that being said, if we're

what do you think should happen to casey hickox? >> first of all, there's a lot of different legal and political nuances to the statement i'm about to make. i think we've seen precedence would require two conditions. one, an individual assessment of the statement determines that they clearly pose a risk to the public and that decision is backed by scientific evidence. in those two scenarios, we are not seeing this is the case with this patient. we've said she is not currently contagious. she doesn't pose a direct threat to the public. and most scientific bodies have made the recommendation that people are not forced into a quarantine. she is one of these workers from the doctors without borders. they have sent around 700 health care workers to west africa, only three of whom have been infected. so clearly they are following very appropriate and effective protocols. the numbers of health care workers from west africa on the other hand roughly 400 have become infected, over 200 have died. the fatality rate and the risk of infection i

local officials want casey hickox to avoid going out until the 21 day incubation period is up. her lawyer is trying to convince them that a day or two of quarantine is enough. the cdc is now updating its ebola guidelines on health care workers returning from west africa classifying them into four categories. workers who treated patients using personal protective equipment pose some risk, while those who had direct contact with bodily fluids are considered high risk. officials will monitor for signs of infection and there will be restrictions about going out and taking transportation. president obama has told his ebola team that government policies should not discourage health care workers who going to west africa to fight the virus. so far, at least a half dozen states have come up with their own guidelines for mandatory quarantines. the white house says ebola response coordinator ron klain has been working behind the scenes and meeting with cdc officials in atlanta this week. craig boswell, cbs news, the white house. >> switzerland approved testing of another experimental ebol
