casey: there is no question. predicate to those kinds of comparisons will be who has control of the senate. we still have two races to settle in georgia. we could be at a 50-50 tie, then we have kamala harris breaking -- harris as vice president to break ties. we will wait to see what happens. i'm not going to name names. that would get everyone in trouble, including me. bob: let's be clear, senator casey, are you open to being in the cabinet, or not? sen. casey: i am very happy with the work i have to do in the senate. bob: you mentioned the lessons of 2009. i think back to that period, as a reporter, covering the affordable care act. do you think because congress is so narrowly divided, do you think president elect biden should put off pursuing a public option for health care for a year or two? sen. casey: i don't think so. i think we should do everything we can to expand health care. even if we get another decision from the supreme court. i am hoping the affordable care act will be upheld. i hope it is upheld.

casey: that is my sense of it. precise.s not there is not necessarily a metric, even though you know over all the number of ballots that are left to be counted. you have numbers you can attach to it, but in terms of knowing exactly the timing -- because sometimes the mail-in ballots can be processed at a certain rate because of the nature of those ballots. but then you have something like ballots that have defects and problems, those take longer to examine and review, and there's a process by that. the provisional ballots come after that and some of those, there are questions that arise because you might have -- someone has been approved for a mail-in ballot but they didn't get one so they showed up to a polling location and they said you can vote by provisional ballot. then, you have to go back and conduct an inquiry to see what ballots get counted. then, you have circumstances someone takes a ballot, gets a valid, returns it to the mail to the dropbox or otherwise and for some reason that ballot was rejected. that can als

now we turn to democratic senator bob casey. senator casey from pennsylvania.t is your sense, senator, of where things stand right now in your state? >> craig, obviously we're still going to be counting for a while. we still have a lot of mail-in ballots to count as you heard in the last hour. the four suburban counties around philadelphia as well as in the city of philadelphia and allegheny county where pittsburgh is. there's still some mail-in ballots coming in to smaller counties, counties that president trump will win easily, but i think joe biden can pick up some of those votes as well. we'll be counting for a while, but i think joe biden is going to win the race, and i think some estimates are, some analysts i have confidence in say it will be 100,000 votes or more. >> let's talk about the upper chamber for a moment there. again, we just saw and heard from senator mitch mcconnell. democrats had hoped to pick up a number of seats. at this point it looks like they will pick up that seat in arizona perhaps, but south carolina a disappointment, kentucky a dis

senator casey thinks he could win by 100,000 votes.ks around the counties are still saying friday, what we've been hearing from the governor, from the secretary of state, be patient. casey says he looks at the pace we're seeing right now, we could have maybe 95% of the vote counted by end of day tomorrow, which could be a place where they could start to call. so he's feeling a little more optimistic about when this race might be called. but just don't go to bed, because those numbers will be coming in from both philadelphia and allegheny county sometime overnight. >> okay. a couple of clarifying questions on that, in part because i need to plan when i'm going to need and when i'm going to have my next caffeine dose. in terms of the overnight numbers there, do you have any estimation from philadelphia or from allegheny county in terms of what "tonight" means here? are we talking about 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning? >> maybe. and they've been saying for a while in allegheny county they were going to drop them -- actually the pittsburgh ste

pennsylvania is tightening, as you said, we just spoke to bob casey. knows pennsylvania politics, he is a senator there. he believes -- now, again, this is his belief -- he believes that the former vice president will take pennsylvania simply balls, as we have been stating here, as you've been talking about, where those votes are coming in. and then you have georgia. georgia tightening as well and you had the president come out yesterday and say, listen, you know, pennsylvania, we're ahead, why are not calling this for us. this place we are ahead, why are they not calling it for us? it's because what is happening here, happens in every single election, especially a presidential election, country-wide election, the votes come in at different times. they come in sometimes after election day and sometimes they are not counted until after election day. so this is a normal part of the process. the only thing that's not normal is that we're doing this in the middle of a pandemic. >> you know, the president once mused that he could shoot somebody in the face
