demolition began this afternoon on the building were 57-year- old samuel james cassidy began his murder spree on the morning of may 26, 2021. cassidy shot and killed nine of his coworkers before turning the gun on himself sheriff's deputies and police closed in on him but the victims who range in age from 29 to 63 years old were all vta employees great basin cassidy picked and chose his victims letting some walk free and shooting down others six of them died inside the building b and three others killed in building better a, which is still operational. it came after months of anguish for the shooting survivors. one man committed suicide after returning to work at the railyard last august. >> one, you were one of the early reporters. i can only imagine it's a bit surreal today. >> reporter: yes. it is a bit surreal. it's very sad. i have to admit. i got a little emotional coming back here. i have not spent time here since this happened. you think about the nine victims that came to work that day and were just gunned down ruthlessly and you think about the sheriff's deputies. one of them

survivors said cassidy picked and chose his arms, letting some walk free and shooting down others. six of them died inside building b, three others were killed nearby in building a which is still operational. the decision to demolish building b came after months of anguish for the co-the shooting survivors. one man who witnessed the horrific scene committed suicide after returning to work at the railyard last august. >> the demolition work as it's expected to resume on friday. >>> two people rushed to the hospital after this helicopter crashed at a pg&e training facility in livermore. chopper 5 over the aftermath of that crash, the helicopter came down and landed on its side. the crash happened near an area where pg&e trains its maintenance crews on how to do repairs on helicopters. federal authorities now taking over the investigation into what exactly went wrong. >>> the big story being felt everywhere is inflation. grocery store prices jumped nearly 11% over the past year. it is the largest 12 month increase since 1980. overall, consumer prices in april jumped 8.3% over last yea
