sara, earlier this summer, your friend cassidy hutchinson testified before the committee.ssed, but one item was about a story she had been told by the then white house deputy chief of staff tony ornato, former secret service agent and ornato told cassidy hutchinson in front of another secret service agent about this incident where trump was lunging for the wheel of the presidential suv because he wanted to go to the capitol. he did not want to go back. do you think we're going to get corroboration from this -- all the secret service data that has been turned over to the committee because i found cassidy hutchinson very credible. my understanding is tony ornato refused to come forward and answer questions in an open hearing even though he's been on a whispering campaign ever since. but do you think we'll see corroboration? >> i am hopeful we will see corroboration of that because as someone who worked firsthand with cassidy and tony, i can attest to the fact they had a very close relationship at the white house. and they were friendly with each other so it's not unsurprisin

cnn has learned former white house aide cassidy hutchinson is cooperating in that probe. significant is that? >> it's significant in that she can fill in what witnesses that are based in georgia have probably already testified to. look, we know that the georgia d.a. has spoken with witnesses on the ground in georgia who might have fielded calls from president trump and his team. what cassidy hutchinson can provide is background, was this spoken about in the white house, was this spoken about privately, when you build an investigation you get information from multiple sources coming at different angles, because some evidence isn't going to hold up in court. they need to sort of bolster what they already have. and, yes, that is potentially a very valuable witness. >> shan, how useful could hutchinson's testimony be to the prosecutor who would be ready, by the way, to make indictments by the end of this year? >> right, wolf. i think it's very valuable because she's the next best thing to mark meadows. on the substantive level, assuming that he may try to assert some kind of

after the call, cassidy hutchinson had a conversation with mark meadows. >> you can't possibly think we are going to pull this off? he looked at me. he knows it is over. he knows he lost. we are going to keep trying. >> this call and other related activity is now the focus of a ongoing criminal investigation in fulton county, georgia. georgia is not the only state where president trump tried to pressure state officials to change results. he attempted to pressure state officials in arizona, pennsylvania and michigan to change results in those states as well. while president trump was pressuring state officials, he was also trying to use the department of justice changehe election results. his officials told him that there was no evidence to support his claims of fraud. he did not care. he told them, just say the election was robbed and leave the rest to meet and the republican congress. these officials -- when these officials did not do what he said, he embarked on the effort to install his acting attorney general. solely because he would do what others in the department would not do.
