. >> we have team coverage tonight, meteorologist cassie wilson is in washoe valley but first we check in with colin jackson in the weather center for the latest on what happened a. >> never a dull moment. last weekend storm was nothing compared to this one. 4500 feet and that means on the valley floor we could see maybe a half an inch to an inch possible, may be more. from 5500 to 4000 feet, and that covers much of reno. that is for saturday morning and possibly sunday morning as well. this is a two-day storm. >> pouring rain in the tahoe area, however there are a few spots of snow and you can see it on mt. rose highway. then further south we show you pockets of snow all the way into the kirkwood area as well. and there is that looks down south too. when you see colors like that you know it is changing from went to powder. but it's going to be a sierra snow event. for now it's mostly rain snow mix and mostly snow overnight, at least a foot and in downtown truckee getting dark. drive carefully, everybody. >> now we go live to meteorologist cassie wilson. >> she joins us from the servic

cassie wilson. back to you. >> thanks, cassie. about a reported armed robbery on the university of nevada campus. police sent out several text messages on wednesday alerting students and staff about a reported armed robbery. the woman's mother originally reported the incident to police saying that two men stole cash from her daughter. i don't think this is the right video for this story. the next day the alleged victim said that it never happened. and police did issue a citation to the victim because of falsifying a police report. that is a misdemeanor, but they sent out another text message alert letting students know that the armed robbery did not happen. >>> news 4 asked a police commander why. we will have her full report tonight at 5:00. >>> and reno police are investigating a burglary that happened shortly after 2:00 this morning. it happened at the radioshack on east plum lane in the shopper square shopping center. broke a window and stole several electronic items. police say the man appears to be light skinned, medium heig

not be the case in the coming days.let's get a first check on your forecast with meteorologist cassie wilson over in the weather center. 3 (olivia)>> reno 3 firefighters say the cold temperatures we've been experiencing have made for a busy week responding to burst pipes.division chief steve leighton says crews have reponded to at least half a dozen incidents of burst pipes today alone...and in the past week... they've responded to as many as 20 incidents. leighton says firefighters have been called out to several apartment complexes in reno... including the bluffs... and sierra hall on the university of nevada campus.he suggests keeping your heater on and your home warm... to avoid your pipes freezing.

. >> we now go live to meteorologist cassie wilson who joins us up at the national the winds have really been kassie. >> reporter: they have been extremely gusty. we had to move. we were standing about 200 yards almost knocking is over. we moved toward the national weather service but they still received almost 40-mile per hour sustained winds right here. take a look at these winds that we received across the region. some of these numbers are in the hundreds, hundred mile per hour gusts and almost an 80- mile per hour gust down in washoe valley. so please be careful if you are traveling along interstate 385 to 580 this evening because the winds are crossing the highway causing damage. we did see a semi turned over today on the side of the road, and that's not all. this is just the first part of the storm system with these winds. the nest is all the heavy rain that we are starting to see. and with that heavy rain comes flood watches and warnings. we are watching for some river rises along the truckee with this storm system as well as areas near tahoe and northern california along down sou
