our team coverage continues with kpix 5's cate caugiran in the newsroom. but first, kpix 5 reporter anne makovec has the latest on the investigation from burlingame. anne. >> reporter: that questionable piece of the plane's machinery that you mentioned was the auto throttle. that's where a lot of the investigation is focused this morning and you can see the wreckage remains here on the runway at sfo. they are gathering up a little debris here on the runway and organizing it in those containers. it's going to be here for several more days. pilot error or mechanical failure that is a question this morning. again focused on that auto throttle which is the automatic speed control. we know the plane came in low and slow on saturday morning. it wasn't maintaining speed like a cruise control according to the flying instructor supervising the flying pilot. the pilot attempted to aboard the landing a second and a half before the landing. then it hit the seawall skidded and flipped down the runway. the ntsb says the auto throttle was armed but they cannot say yet if
