kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is in the neighborhood where it happened with the latest. cate. >> reporter: michelle, we are learning more about the victims in this shooting as oakland police continue to investigate why this happened. we know that it happened around 11:18 last night. police got reports of shots fired at an apartment complex near montana and wilson. originally officers were told the shooting happened outside but they found the victims inside an apartment all with gunshot wounds. oakland police say three of those victims were children. an 8-year-old girl, 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. the other victim was an adult woman. alameda county coroner says the 8-year-old girl died about an hour later at the hospital. oakland police say the adult and two other children are in stable condition. police say there has been no arrest at this point and there is no suspect description. live in oakland, cate caugiran, kpix 5. >> >>> some of the protestors who vandalized oakland earlier it week were caught on camera and oakland police want your help in tracking them

i'm cate caugurian.alo alto couple's plane crashes and now witnesses are puzzled what they saw moments before that decent. the pilot did not climb straight up and said he made a sharp right turn barely clearing the first set of trees. moments later the couple's single engine crashed about a mile east of lake tahoe airport. the pilot died on impact. his wife suffered moderate injuries and trapped in the wreckage. a flight nurse was walking her dog and saw the wreckage. the nurse stayed by karen's side. the pilot's wife was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. the cause of the crash is unknown at this point. we do know the faa and ntsb will be back on scene to start their investigation. cate caugurian, kpix 5. >> new york's la guardia airport is running again. >> they had to tow a plane before they got back under control. 10 people were treated for minor injuries. >> dozens of bay area students will have their summer break interrupted to retake a test. and now mills high school students and thei

kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is in alameda with what police are saying this morning. cate. >> reporter: michelle, officials tell us that that second suspect may be injured so they are searching this area and they also are checking local hospitals. now, alameda police tell us they got a number of 911 calls about two masked men with guns robbing the bonfair market around 10:30 last night. there were reports of gunshots fired inside the market. one of those callers told officers there was an off-duty deputy shopping at the market when it happened. officers were able to get a hold of that deputy and found a gun on him. that deputy waited for the two suspects as they left the store. >> the sheriff's didn'tty fearing for his safety and the -- deputy fearing for his safety and the safety of the employees in the store fired and killed one suspect. he may have shot the second suspect. we haven't been able to locate him yet. we have done an extensive area check throughout the neighborhoods and we're now checking local hospitals to see if we can locate that suspect. >> reporter:

cate caugiran just spoke with union representatives from both rallies. cate? >> reporter: unfortunately, we still don't know as far as bart is concerned when negotiations will resume but right now they are coming together -- the different unions that are striking here in oakland, as part of a community or solidarity rally. you can take a look now. there are hundreds of bart employees who walked off the job today joined by oakland city workers. union workers have been here since the early-morning hours with their signs, noisemakers and chants. [ chanting ] >> reporter: picketers took to the streets blocking off 14th and broadway just an hour ago. now all of them are assembled together and frank ogawa plaza. bart and union workers haven't found a compromise on the major sticking points: pay, pension, health, safety. in addition bart workers are joined by members from local 21 and city workers from seiu, including senior and youth center employees, street sweepers and pavers all the way to urban economic development. city workers plan to go back to work tomorrow

cate. >> reporter: michelle, we learned that police uncovered new evidence that brought them back to this house and we know that this is at least their third visit as the search intensifies. our kpix 5 cameras were rolling when several police cars showed up. investigators are back at the home where daphne lived with her father. meanwhile, more flyers are going up in the area where little daphne was last seen. 200 are posted on the walls by the market where her father says she was taken from his car. >> we're also going to go back and recanvass our identified areas. and some of those areas will be the oak knoll area, 79th and international, we'll also extend to the 8500 block of international, to the east and to the west. >> reporter: oakland police are also taking their search on dual purpose motorcycles to the trails and parks from the oak knoll area. police say john webb liked to take his daughter here. investigators are still trying to put together a timeline of how the events played out. webb says his daughter was taken from his parked suv outside a market wednesday morning. he s

kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is in oakland where protestors were mostly peaceful but, cate, there was some damage caused, as well. >> reporter: yes. you can see that aftermath behind me. some windows have been boarded up at the sears in downtown oakland. but as you mentioned these protests were peaceful especially in comparison to what we saw saturday. when police told the crowd last night it was time to go home, they did. protestors spent most of the day marching making noise on behalf of trayvon martin. some protestors burned the american flag and took their anger to the streets of oakland. this is what the city will have to clean up starting this morning. there was a good amount of damage done this weekend. people broke windows, vandalized cars and buildings but last night's protestors told us it was more about the message not the mayhem. >> this is oakland. this is our home. and why rape where we live rather than try to pick it up? >> i don't get it. >> i don't think people want to hear from anybody throwing a tantrum which is what this is. >> reporter: oakland police say about 10

kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran joining us live now with some disturbing video. cate. >> reporter: anne, we just got this video moments ago. we want to go straight to it. it's another crime that happened here in this area. you can take a look for yourself. this is a shooting that happened in the same neighborhood two months ago at island market. it's a liquor store. we know that there was a seven- year-old in the back seat of one of those cars. you can see the suspect very clearly firing his weapon. we are work on gathering the details. we'll have more at 5:00 on kpix 5. now, that was an incident brought up in today's conference and i can tell you that neighbors in this area are very angry. they are fueled by the deaths of both 8-year-old alaysha car carradine and this woman 66- year-old judy salamon. they are demanding that the city do more to protect them. city council members joined the residents to demand claimings to public say. several speakers say oakland police force's is not enough. salamon was killed wednesday afternoon when she was shot as she was driv

cate, you're getting updates from police on what happened? >> reporter: yes, that's right, michelle. oakland police say they are continuing to investigate why and how this happened. we do know at around 11:18 last night, the police got reports of shots fired at an apartment complex near montana and wilson. originally, officers were told that the shooting took place outside but they found four victims inside an apartment. one adult was taken to highland hospital. the three children ages 8, 7 and 4 years old to oakland's children's hospital. alameda county coroner says the 8-year-old girl died about an hour later at the hospital. oakland police say the adults and the two other children are in stable condition. right now, there have been no arrests and there is no suspect description at this time. reporting live in oakland, cate caugiran, kpix 5. >>> oakland police are also putting out some pictures hoping you can help identify some of the protestors who caused some of the damage earlier this week. police realized faces may not be seen here but

kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is at the lake merritt bart station in oakland. any sign they will get back together at the negotiating table? >> reporter: we're not sure about that yet, frank. if this is any indication, the picketers are still here at the lake merritt bart station so this means bart riders should be making alternative plans. there's still no word when talks between bart management and the unions will continuing. take a look at what we know so far. right now, the two sides are still pretty far apart. bart is offering an 8% wage hike over 4 years. it wants workers to pay more towards their pension and benefits. the unions want a 13.5% raise over 3 years. they are also willing to kick in a .5% towards their retirement. but insurance is also a major sticking point. >> right now, bart employees only pay $92 towards their healthcare. that's unheard of. most people pay four times as much. >> if anyone wants more than basic, they pay that plus co- pays. it averages out to our members paying $200 a month. >> reporter: according to bart the average nonman

our team coverage continues with kpix 5's cate caugiran in the newsroom. but first, kpix 5 reporter anne makovec has the latest on the investigation from burlingame. anne. >> reporter: that questionable piece of the plane's machinery that you mentioned was the auto throttle. that's where a lot of the investigation is focused this morning and you can see the wreckage remains here on the runway at sfo. they are gathering up a little debris here on the runway and organizing it in those containers. it's going to be here for several more days. pilot error or mechanical failure that is a question this morning. again focused on that auto throttle which is the automatic speed control. we know the plane came in low and slow on saturday morning. it wasn't maintaining speed like a cruise control according to the flying instructor supervising the flying pilot. the pilot attempted to aboard the landing a second and a half before the landing. then it hit the seawall skidded and flipped down the runway. the ntsb says the auto throttle was armed but they cannot say yet if
