jack black, cate blanchett and the plot line dealing with the house with the clock in its walls, theere are great special-effects and horror elements. the great thing is you will notice the tone is still in a pg film but more available for family audiences. i thought it was a lot of fun. the moments the script feels stiff and dialogue feel scripted at times but overall i found the film enjoyable, 3 out of 5. i wouldn't call it great by any means but an entertaining film and a good pathway if you want your kids to watch family-friendly films, this goes back to old-school emblem days of those horror movies. pete: life itself, another movie. >> it is getting bad reviews and i'm trying to figure out why. you are dealing with introspective storylines all connected through one random event that happened years ago, the idea that one little event can shape dozens of lives over many years. this film hit me at the right time. i saw it after i left, had a profound conversation with friends about life in general and the macro level of ice from the microlevel, the cast is incredible. olivia wilde
