a category five. the strongest ever to move towards the hawaiian islands. category five with wind at 160 miles an hour and gusts two 195 it is tracking a little bit to the west. 300 mal -- 300 miles from the south point of the big island. it depends on if the track takes it part of to the west, wind may not be a factor. could be storm surge, wind, rain. it will weaken as it moves northward off of maui and oahu. nevertheless, a very powerful hurricane on its way over the next 36 hours. we were 5 - 14 degrees below average on the high side yesterday. san francisco as well. 65 today. that's still below average. 64, 61, 60 for the last three days. more below average temperatures that little system dipping in caused the fog bank to ramp up and temperatures to stay on the cool side. they are really not warming up that much. just subtle changes day today. a little warmer today. hazy sunshine in day three of the cooler pattern. don't be surprised if it lasts most of the week or month. upper 70s to low 80s. >>

as it gets closer to the islands it will go to category 2.ning and afternoon it will become a category 1 but still widespread impacts through all of those islands people are being told to pack up food and water for 14 days at least. a lot of these roads will be flooded. the threat of mudslides is certainly there. this gives you an idea of how massive the eye s you can see how widespread the impacts r you can see already they are dealing with strong, strong winds. in. e's lot of moisture ait's wa oc picking up more and more of that moisture. so the amount of rainfall is very impressive. 10 to 20 inches in some spots but some of the mountainous areas up to 30 inches of rain expected by the time this gets through the big island and into some of the smaller islands. this includes maui and honolulu. most of the damage will be from a mix of the storm surge. the heavy rainfall and, of course, that can lead to a lot of mudslides, as well. we'll talk more about our bay area forecast coming up. >>> we started off the morning with our speeds in the red

as it goes north it will weaken into a category 1. actually category 2 by friday.hen saturday, it's down to a one. and then it turns. so we'll be watching it closely. you can see where the hurricane warnings are and the hurricane watches are. and it's all going to come down to -- we talked to the gentleman with noaa earlier. do heavy rautheastern edge of the islands. that's whewill be at will be up there's a lot of topography and so on. so we'll watch it. it's a developing story. it could still change and shoot well south of the islands which would be great. right now, though, the models are more consolidation with kind of going to just barely south of oahu. fog along the coast, winds are out there. air quality better. temperatures down. well, a little warmer than yesterday but down anyway. i mean, i would expect mid-80s inland at this time of night. and we're seeing 70s with a little haze and smoke. a little drizzle tomorrow morning. tomorrow lunch, hm, there's how it looks tomorrow afternoon. a little bit of sun. a lot like today. here's the forecast models. all
