[ applause ] >> thank you. many thanks for this return to fredericksburg and i'm particularly heartened that both the lecture series, champion we yim william crawley are now named after him and my biography of harriet tubman got launched in the same year. and i think it's a testament to the well-told story of a life. i'm also pleased that since 2004 there have been more than a half a dozen excellent studies on tubman and the underground railroad, including the pulitzer prize winner eric phoner's most recent book "gateway to freedom, the hidden history of the underground railroad" which was a new york times best seller that i think shows that there's a real hunger being slakd by our new views of the ynd ground railroad. + the intervening years, the university of mary washington has supported the plutarch award given april wally by the organization. so i think it's a great time to be celebrating great lives. the remarkable accomplishments of harriet tubman has an intrepi

(catherine) people in nearby houses feared the worst when they saw black smoke billowingfrom a wooded area... this is in the town of clintont 3 miles from joint base andrews.. and a lot of people had heard loud bangs when the jet hit ground..but not only did the pilot safely eject when he realized there was a serious mechanical problem....he's already been treated and released for minor injuries. no one on the ground was hurt - but it did shake a lot of people up. neigbors:it was something out of a movie. i couldn't tell if it was our jets or what... there were jets flying around, helicoptersgoing everywhere. i didn't know what was going on. it was a hurtful thing. i'm glad he got out of their safe. ain't nobody got hurt. nobody in the neighborhood got hurt. he didn't hit no houses. air national guard spokesman: once he realized he would not be able to safely land the aircraft, he made a decision to land in a wooded area to reduce the risk to local community.(catherine) he says the pilot had only moments to make a decision on what to do....and relied onintensive training. the pilot is with the air national guard and was fl
