(grant) cal fire has dubbed this cal fire has dubbed this cal fire has dubbed this cal fire has dubbed this the mendocino complex fire...but yes there are two gigantic fires that are burning quite close to one another. the river fire is burning to the west of clear lake... and the ranch fire is devouring land north of the lake. and it's the ranch fire that is forcing those new evacuations. they're in effect for long valley, high valley and spring valley. shelters have been established in lower lake & middletown...pe ople told to drive south immediately if you haven't left already. here are the new numbers...just released about 30 mnutes ago. the ranch fire is exploding in size...it's now burned almost 84-thousand acres...the river fire is about half that size...at more than 41 thousand acres.
