for more on this we are joined by cathy deluca. thank you for joining us. how and why do you support the city doing this? >> well, these scooters, they are dockless motorized scooters. they could be part of the transportation system in san francisco. but right now they are having a negative effect on people and on our sidewalks. and so we really think, you know -- state legislation says it's illegal to ride motorized scooters on sidewalks but a tremendous number of people are doing that and it's dangerous. we are hearing countless complaints from people who say the scooters are blocking their path that they can't walk on the sidewalk. people tripping over the scooters and actually having to go to the emergency room. so these unintended consequences of the scooters that are hurting pedestrians. >> right. so what kind of regulations do you want to see? >> well, so it's already illegal to ride on the sidewalks in the state. and it's illegal to have obstacles on the sidewalk. so the regulation that supervisors peskin and kim, they want to create a permit system
