catie, what are you hearing from the family >> reporter: well, the family is outraged and disappointed saying anyone who could see this video and call it a justified shooting despite the facts is giving both an insult and a slap in the face to the brown family, the elizabeth city community and every rational person out there. they say at no point did brown offer any threat to officers, that he was driving in a different direction trying to evade and escape them, fleeing for his life they say their pursuit for justice is far from over they are asking for the juice department to intervene and not ruling out a possible civil suit in addition to the d.a. making news today, the sheriff also offering an announcement saying that the three officers who fired weapons in this incident will remain on the job they will be disciplined and retrained, he says he is also asking that the entire body camera footage be released to the public as well as hopefully at some point portions of the fbi investigation when it is legally able to be released. in addition, he says he's offering prayers to the brown

catie beck, let me start with you on the ground in north carolina. quite a press conference there from the d.a. walk us through what happened there in the last hour or so and what we expect to possibly hear from family members going forward. >> kasie, it was obviously a very tense room as he defended his position, the district attorney saying these law enforcement officers were completely justified in this shooting. at no point did they violate the constitution, north carolina law nor their duty, and oath to serve and protect. he said he feels mr. brown posed a direct threat to those officers as well as to the safety of the community and they were simply acting in self-defense to protect themselves and others by taking the actions they did. he did show the bodycam footage. we were able to watch all four body camera footage worn by deputies. he carefully pointed out when deputies made contact with mr. brown's car, considering that to be the moment of threat. he did say he was not making this decision based on public opinion, that despite calls for tra
