and then he says this: there is a catskill ego in some souls that can alike dive down into the the blackest gorges and soar out of him again and become invisible in the sunny spaces. so i would submit to you that this book certainly does not hesitate to take you right into the the hospital and the jail, and the author is certainly a person who's gone down into the blackest gorges and, again, is still able to soar up into the sunny spaces. and, in fact, you can even see this depicted on the cover of the book. so for all these reasons, i'm suggesting to you, read this book. and out towards cape cod and then back here towards areas to scranton and in between through the catskillsrainfall. the other story is it's still hot and humid. once you get away from that rain. d.c. today is going to be about 94 degrees. heat index will feel like 100. still warm through the carolinas. now back behind this storm system, dryer, cooler air has moved in, where the end of the heat wave. this week is much better in areas like st. louis, indianapolis, and as we go into the great lakes, actually it will feel cool, and that will sweep into new england. refreshing temperature change. today we're only 74 in cleveland. 74 in dhi. that's about 1 1 to 16 degrees below average. this is like a little taste of september for you over the next two days. same goes for northern new england. syracuse, 70 to 78. areas to the south, though, as i mention, lewis, it's not much of a relief. you have to wait until the fall. d.c. to dallas feels like 100 in the next couple of days. >> the conditions out west are not getting any help. >> the rainy season doesn't even start until november. that was jus

this evening some of the storms head to the catskills and poconos, skps a few trying to make their wayd brks a half hour ago, statistically this is the warmest week of the summer for the lower 48. as we go throughout the day today and into tomorrow, the heat really is building already excessive heat watch in effect from areas from kansas through missouri. today the temperatures are the highest in california. sacramento, redding. they're still on track for one of the hottest summers ever for places like las vegas, salt lake city, even phoenix with a very hot stretch earlier this summer too. by tuesday the heat moves to denver, to amarillo, and it's not until the middle to the end of the week that we see our first sustained heat wave. look at st. louis. this is not the heat index. this is the actual temperatures. 100, 102, 102. it doesn't quite make it to chicago. you will get lucky in the great lakes, but through the central plains and will spread towards d.c. too by the end of the week. this is to be expected. we're in the middle to the end of the summer when most of the areas, and it'
