cavalcante left that residence.the homeowner eventually returned home, reviewed his doorbell recording and called local police. psp received a call about this sighting and the next at 12:30 in the morning on september 10, 2023. this was our first indication that cavalcante had been able to travel from the area of longwood gardens. photos of calfvalcante were downloaded and provided to the media. some are here adjacent to the podium. you will note he is now clean shaven and wearing a bright green hooded sweat shirt. investigators were also made aware of another sighting in the phoenixville area in which cavalcante appeared at a residence of another old work associate at 10:07 p.m. that associate was not home but a female resident observed cavalcante and called her friend. that friend responded to the residence and eventually placed a call to local police. police investigated and then notified psp. during that investigation, there was an skags of a white vehicle possibly being used by cavalcante. and updated photo was

cavalcante now in custody. a source close to this investigation first let me know about a half hour ago, now we see these stunning images of him being taken into custody by several law enforcement agents dressed in full tactical gear, also pennsylvania state police who have been running this operation, you could tell they also were right there as cavalcante was being brought into custody. we are still of course waiting to learn a lot of information about the exact nature of how they were able to take him in, we are expecting to learn that at a press conference around 9:30. i want to tell you a little bit about what we do know at least about the area and the situation that led up to this moment as i said that so many have been waiting for. it seems that cavalcante was captured frankly right smack dab in the perimeter that pennsylvania state police said they set up over the course of the past 24 to 48 hours or so we've been watching helicopters all morning start to circle tighter and tighter and tighter over one

that is to the heart of why cavalcante is located in the area that he is in.t new for fugitive hunts, because they typically gravitate to the areas where they have been before and where family and relatives and contacts are located. that is what he has done. he has gotten transportation, and drove 25 north and west towards phoenixville, and east pikeland and now of course nantmeal, and these are the places where he knows and feels like he is on stronger ground there and has the opportunity to make contact with the people who he thinks can help him, provide him with the resources he needs whether it is money, food, clothes, transportation or whatever. so, law enforcement has a delicate role the play here. they want to constantly be messaging to the universe of associates and family members, hey, if you hear from him, and if he reaches out the you, do the right thing and call us. don't help him, and help us to find him and bring it to a peaceful end. that is what happened with the first ring doorbell connect on saturday evening. that person confirmed the video a

the search in the woods was to cavalcante's advantage. he was in an eight square mile area with very difficult terrain, difficult to get to and there were some weaknesses in the perimeter. i think the incident command here was great setting up the perimeter, bringing in the resources and doing the absolute best we could. we had, i think, over 200 law enforcement officers in or around that perimeter. but now we are going to prepare for the long game and the long game is what we do best, u.s. marshal service, like the colonel said, does fugitive investigations every day. this is a manhunt. and what it means to us, it's a longer fugitive investigation with more resources. so we are prepared. >> cavalcante playing war game now? >> cavalcante -- i think the advantage has switched before. before testifies advantage cavalcante taking the tactical hide and seek in the woods now advantage law enforcement because he's in an urban setting. that's what our investigators do best and force multiplied by the other state and federal agencies so i believe
