>>> live from the bay area cbs studios. >> streaming on cbsn bay area, what happened on the south bay highway. >>> we're seeing showers on high def doppler. that is not the stuff that gets here tonight. >> thank you for joining us. >>> we begin with the breaking news on highway 17 in santa cruz. >> reporter: two vehicles including a chp suv were hit by unknown projectiles while traveling on highway 17. once the two cars were hit, they pulled into this granite creek business center so they could safely park. the incident happened just before 1:00 on highway 17 in scotts valley here in the santa cruz mountains. the chp officer called for backup after his rear window was shattered. he wasn't sure if it was a gunshot or bb gun. the chp shutdown both directions of highway 17 for awhile and opened just before 7:00. a green, dodge minivan was also shot. the rear driver side window was shattered. the driver and passenger in the minivan was pretty shaken up. the santa cruz county sheriff department searched the two vehicles for the item that hit and shattered the two windows. so far they have
