was an original print that was produced during the war, union prisoners in southbury with carolina, cca game going on, and as the war continued, the likelihood that they were playing baseball and prison camps greatly diminished, but early in the war, there are documented instances of this happening, and finally, after the war, a few years later, 1869, they become the first professional baseball team, the first and that is openly paid and not long after that, other club owners decide we are not going to have amateurs in the game anymore, we are paying everyone and this is a commemorative print of that first team that had an undefeated season in 1869. so next, now that we have got professional teams and we've got soldiers after the war who are taking the game westward, more and more people are playing, and let's take a look at who those folks are. this is a section that we have on who's playing back in the 19 century. and just about everyone is. but the only people who were really being paid for it are white men on major league baseball teams. what we have here from 1887 is an uncut sheet
