we had two commissioners who also were serving on the ccda itself.california building standards commission office. we also had another member from the housing and community development group, and we have one general contractor, so you add up all those things it was a lot more than 11 people because these people often shared diverse backgrounds and multiple experiences so we counted each and every one of those. we initially commencedda a check list committee and getting samples of check lists that were published and commercially available including the san francisco department of public works, quick sheets developed by the disability access coordinator. it included a restaurant accessibility field guide prepared by designing accessible communities and several other wases accessibility specialists that worked with them and we saw examples of bifold and trifold products published by a local book store. we have the department of general services check list used for state leased facilities. we look at a cal bo sample check list. we looked at private party

ccda. >> we at the commission truly am so pleased of each and every one of you share and enlighten us today, and i know -- well, i hope that this will not be our last time together with all of you. this has been truly a tremendous effort to have this knowledge base together in one house. the energy is fascinating but i do know that it does not stop here as said over and over again. this is a living document and it's going to require our commission to be on top of it to help you to continue to do your work and aid you and if it's not maintained it's not an aid and that's our job to make sure the document is current. however however proud of it we want your feedback and our desire is after a while come back and respond and get an open forum discussion from your jurisdictions and we look forward to hearing from you and we quite frankly. to hear any negative thoughts of things or opportunities. we believe that that's the best way to grow and learn from the document so whatever you have to share

i would like to thank ccda for having us here today. i can tell you as a board member and [inaudible] i would like to thank ccda for a job well done. this checklist had been helpful. i will bring it back to my jurisdiction and have builders call us out for a consultant and encourage that and don't end up like we talked about and randy alluded to as well and we don't want the cold shower at the end of the job and by the way you need to tear this out and this isn't correct so with that being said i believe the checklist will be very useful and spoke to before it's a living document so we will make changes along the way and do that and good document. >> are the cass changes -- (low audio) and during final inspection? >> yes i found that to be true. >> yes. i agree. >> i don't know if there are any questions that have come in from over the phone? i also invite members of the public to ask questions if they have them. yes, could you come to the front? thank you. if you can identify yourself, speak into the mic. thank you. >> dominick octave

commission is correctly applying the codes under the ada or if you think that that's an avenue where the ccda could do some education of historical building commissions or if you can see any other suggestions for ways that we could assist in smoothing out those conflicts? >> so the businesses in terms of the issue if they don't come -- they generally don't come before the commission because the commission is really there for landmarking historical buildings. this is really dealing at the staff level, so and probably probably to be more careful or specific about -- it's not the historic preservation department -- they may not approve a proposed -- like in the example that i provided. that recommendation which meets building code standards doesn't meet their standards so they won't approve it, so what they do want is then for the business to come back and try to work out a different solution, and so the time the cost, the architectural -- especially for a new business opening up is you have a $3,000 filing fee. you could have six months before you get through the review process even just staff
